Blackpool Live at Winter Gardens this summer, All you need to know!

f you’ve been waiting for an excuse to head back to Blackpool, here it is.

This summer sees the launch of Blackpool Live, a brand-new concert series taking over the legendary Winter Gardens, with Manchester promoters Scruff of the Neck putting together a line-up that’s packed with indie favourites, festival heroes and exciting new talent.

Across seven huge headline shows, more than 27 artists will perform to a combined audience of around 17,500 people, transforming one of the UK’s most iconic venues into a must-visit destination for live music fans.

Leading the charge are Feeder, The Fratellis, The Enemy, Cast, Doves, The Pigeon Detectives and Happy Mondays, with a supporting cast that’s every bit as exciting. Expect appearances from The Futureheads, The Twang, The Lilacs, The Cheap Thrills, We Are Scientists, Alex Spencer, Shambolics, Sleeper, Echobelly, Pastel, The Slow Readers Club, IST IST, Bank Holiday, The Rifles, M60, ALRIGHT, Inspiral Carpets and Common Goldfish.

It’s the sort of line-up that mixes established legends with the next generation of bands perfectly. Whether you’re reliving your indie disco years or looking for your next favourite band, there’s something worth getting excited about.

The Winter Gardens has welcomed some of the biggest names in music history over the decades, with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Stone Roses previously gracing its stage. Blackpool Live looks determined to add another memorable chapter to that story.

What makes this series stand out is that it isn’t just about the gig. The organisers want people to make a full day of it. Grab some fish and chips, hit the beach, brave the rides at Pleasure Beach, wander along the piers, lose a few quid in Coral Island, or explore the town’s bars before heading inside for an evening of live music.

It’s a simple idea, but a good one. Live music should be an experience, not just two hours stood in front of a stage before racing for the last train home.

For Blackpool, it’s another positive step in reminding people that the town can still pull in major events, while for fans it’s a chance to catch some of Britain’s finest indie and alternative acts in one of the country’s most historic venues.

If the first season delivers on the promise of this line-up, don’t be surprised if Blackpool Live becomes a permanent fixture on the UK’s live music calendar.
