‘I’ve seen it, I’ve seen it all’ Just this line alone would entail the weight and the whirlwind of emotions we would go through in “InnerVoid”, a single by Bristol’s very own alt-metal band Brightshade.
“InnerVoid” starts off with delicate melodic synths, distanced singing and gentle guitar strums, however you shouldn’t let the tame intro fool you, as it would then launch straight into the heavy numetal that the band is known for.
Dan’s (vocals) unleashed roars and the crashing drums came together in this burst of emotion that is full of wrath and rage, and you could feel the ache and the dread in hearing the chorus alone. The flow change in the perchorus invites the listener in before diving into the chorus together.
Brightshade seems to have mastered the ‘melodramatic’ sentiment with their sound, yet it doesn’t feel cliche or overdone at all. Amidst the wistful growls and wailing guitars you find sincerity, written in lyrics and explicitly portrayed by Dan’s powerful delivery.
As we sink into the angsty chorus for one last time, the song reaches its peak. The band gives their all into their beautiful chaos of metal rock but it comes to a halt.
With “InnerVoid”, Brightshade adds yet another track to their extensive discography of numetal bangers, each written in their own grit and story to tell.
