bring me the horizon at Manchester arena

BRING ME THE HORIZON LIVE IN MANCHESTER – WHAT HAPPENED?

Sheffield rockers Bring Me the Horizon put on an electrifying show on Saturday night at Manchester’s AO Arena. The four piece pulled out all the stops with special effects, AI robots, pyrotechnics and plenty of smoke, which when teamed with an equally impressive stage setting was something to behold!

This latest tour has proven to be incredibly popular with fans keen to see the band who are certainly up there at the top of their genre, and it was nostalgia central as many fans have grown with the band since they formed back in 2004.

This near sell out crowd was treated to two support acts. First on the bill was female artist Cassyette. Described as ‘a modern alternative icon’ Cassy Brooking has made quite a name for herself on the alternative scene having toured with the likes of Sum 41 and My Chemical Romance.

Her well crafted songs are a testament to her and have certainly made her one of the most prominent up and coming artists of the UK rock scene. The audience certainly gave her a warm welcome and she reciprocated by putting on an impressive show with some pretty outstanding vocals.

Main supports this evening were another group of rock legends, Bad Omens from Richmond Virginia. Formed just under ten years ago, these guys caused chaos on stage as they entered wearing balaclavas amongst smoke and dramatic lighting, more akin to a heist that a rock show.

The band played through a full set of songs dating back to their first album ‘Bad Omens’ and also material from their latest release ‘The Death of Peace of Mind’. It is safe to say this have not mellowed with age, with lead singer Noah Sebastian’s dramatic antics, dashing around the stage which had transformed with a huge digital backdrop, kudos to the technical team this evening, it was certainly one of the more impressive arena shows for special effects.

The headliners are one of Sheffields most famous exports, having taken the rock world by storm it is clear to see they have retained their popularity with the die hard fans, many of whom have been here a long time, armed with banners and maintaining their place at the barrier. The sheer volume from the crowd as the band took to the stage was phenomenal, teamed with confetti canons the moment was surreal.

`The forty minute wait between the last act and Bring Me The Horizon was worth it as the stage had transformed into a multi platformed extravaganza which saw drummer Matt Nichols precariously perched on the highest platform.

It is clear why this band have such a following. Lead singer Oli Sykes’s energetic presence amongst the on stage carnage of flames, smoke and strobes was pretty fucking outrageous, It was difficult to keep tabs on him as he leapt from one side the other, making his way across the various levels, all the time maintaining a strong vocal performance. The whole evening was memorable and even if you’re not a huge fan, I would urge you to catch this band and line up at an arena near you whilst they are on tour, this was not just gig, it was pure theatre!
