Manchester solo-artist, Brooke Ellen, has just released her newest single Skin On The Mirror. It’s a dark song that will send shivers down your spine.
Starting the song off strong, a piano introduces the song, with a kind of hip-hoppy beat behind it.
Brooke’s vocals enters and haunts the song giving it this soulful feel to the track straight away. Brooke’s voice is certainly beautiful and fits perfectly in the song.
As we get closer to the middle of the song, approximately 1 min 30 secs in, the instruments don’t drastically change. There is more of a hard-hitting beat within it but nothing that stands out too much. Brooke’s vocals are passionate within the track and that vibe does not change throughout.
The lyrics give me a sense of not being comfortable in your own body, therefore changing your face to fit in is the only way.
I think Brooke has portrayed this incredibly in the track and will definitely make you feel a deeper connection to this brilliant artist. Brooke has got talent and this song proves it!
