Straight out of Brighton, ‘The Ride‘ is best described as a rollercoaster ride of indie rock. Served at a high volume while you sing into your closest object, Charlie Moss’ latest single is heavily inspired by the 80s music era. One of the best eras of music to have happened so far for the globe, the 80s inspired not only the way we listen to music but also our perspective of images. Obviously influenced by the lifestyle and fashion of the 80s too, Charlie Moss easily ticks all the boxes.
After feeling influenced to write a song about the famous quote ‘life is what you make of it’, ‘The Ride‘ is all about taking chances and living your life to the full. Determined to tell listeners to spend their lives with no regrets and not constantly saying what-ifs, this motivational number is definitely what the globe needs right now. After a year of challenging times, we’re all needing a boost to live our lives to the fullest, and this song could certainly be the boost you need.
Glistening with vibrance and a coming-of-age feel to the track, the overall instrumentation is strong, but the production is what lets it down ever so slightly. Charlie’s vocals get lost within the reverberated mix at times and it’s hard to hear the lyrics, making it feel slightly let down. Saying that the overall message and arrangement is effortless and showcases a bright personality. The only thing I’d say is to enhance the vocals and make them pop further in the mix.
