Newly-fromed indie-rock quartet Meridia have released their latest offering “Falling Through The Cracks”.
To say they’re quite fresh on the scene I was pretty impressed in all honesty, they seem to have the right flair and mix of experimental and comfortable.
It starts off quite whimsical in a way, almost alluring, but then goes into this rocky anthemic guitar rhythm which immediately hooks you in.
The vocals are perfectly matched to this style, soft spoken in a way, but also deep enough to carry the backing track throughout the song.
I was honestly expecting a bit heavier, but that is no criticism, it’s a very easy listen and easy to blend into the background of it all and take in the lyrics and feel of the track.
Some of the lyrics are a bit repetitive, particularly the title lyrics, but it works, and if it’s not broken, don’t fix it!
It does end quite abruptly, but you know what, it works, it ties it all off and brings it to a nice finish.
Overall a colourful track with simplicity, but sometimes that’s the best, it was the perfect introduction to Meridia’s style and consider me intrigued to check out the rest!
