COAST REVEAL THEIR BEST FANTASY ALBUM TRACKLISTING – COME AND TAKE A LOOK
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF FANTASY ALBUMS WHERE MUSIC FANS ARE PUT TO THE TEST TO DECIPHER THEIR ULTIMATE COLLECTION
The rules are simple(ish): they can’t repeat an album, and to just make it that little bit more interesting they have to use the same track number from another album. For example, Track 1 could be the opening track of the incredible Stone Roses’ debut ‘I Wanna Be Adored’. Track 2 could be Blur’s ‘Song 2′ – you get the idea? – basically their favoutite track 1, 2, 3 etc from 10 different albums.
This month’s Fantasy Album is curated by Coast*. The quintet have been together for for nearly 15 years, brothers Paul Eastham (lead vocals, piano) and Chris Barnes (percussion, vocals) formed Coast with their friend Finlay Wells (guitar)in Scotland with a shared love of Celtic rock and folk music. They have found success at home, Germany, Scandinavia and USA and have released four full albums. Now a six piece with Georgie Cullum: (keyboards, vocals),Mathias Lassen (drums) and Ewan Macdonald (bass guitar) released their most recent more rock driver album ‘10.2’
*All choices are by Georgette Cullum unless stated otherwise.
Finlay’s choice “My first encounter with the lyrical mastery of the master, a whole new world of language opened up and I was to be forever addicted“.
“There are no words needed for this legend of a singer, however I have gone with this song because I love the feeling she has put in to it.”
“I love that big raspy New York City sound. It’s a very uplifting song and best played loud in your car.”
“For me, any Steely Dan song will do, but this is the first song in which I really fell in love with the band.”
“The Eagles have long been one of my favourite bands, along with Don Henley and his solo albums, but the melody and the vocals in this song make it such a great track – also love the iconic and instantly recognisable piano intro on Desperado.”
“Originally a song written by prince, Chaka Khan relaunched her career on this track, and what a career it has been. Amazing R&B vocalist with tons of musicality.”
“No other words than it is one of my favourite songs, and my favourite female singer of all time.”
“Absolutely love John Mayer, this song is so beautiful, I love his lyrics and the John Mayer signature guitar sound in slow dancing.”
“It’s a powerhouse of a song, with a great mixture of each instrument dominating different sections ultimately colliding in the chorus.”
Chosen by Finley “first heard at age 11, the reason I play guitar is the opening riff of that song“.
Some brilliant tracks by Coast. Thanks to Georgette and the rest of the band for contributing.
