Thanks for joining us today… Tell us a bit about where you are from and how you got into music?
Heyyy, we’re from Sunny Manchester and we all got into music through either going to lots of gigs when younger or having music run in the family.
What’s the live music scene like in Manchester right now?
Live Music in Manchester is definitely alive and thriving, it’s great to be from a city where that culture is still doing so well!
Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)?
The Yowies and Funeral care, both incredible bands that are really pushing the boat out.
We caught you at live at By The Sea this year, great outfits 🙂 How do you plan your look for shows?
Thank you!! We always try to bring a vibe on stage! As Rae is front and center, the rest of the band just try to elevate the look she is going for.
What are your ambitions for the band?
To be able to play some iconic venues in Manchester and have people there singing along. We recently experienced that during our headline show at YES Bar and it was an incredible feeling!!
Do you think Manchester still has a hangover after the 90s Music scene or do you think we are finally moving on from it?
Manchester has such a diverse scene when it comes to music, and most are usually trying to do something different to stand out. Are there still the odd ones that love to impersonate two specific famous brothers… of course!
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
It’s a constantly changing landscape which unfortunately makes it quite difficult for upcoming bands to figure out what works. Everything now is so “Algorithm and Viral” based that people chase that one hit video on TikTok with hopes it will propel them. We prefer the slow burn and things have been going really well this year for us.
What’s your thoughts on AI generated music?
It’s a very strange time when it comes to AI! The scary part is people online who either don’t care if it’s AI or truly think it’s music created by real musicians.
The aspect of people just wanting to type in some prompts and churn out music with no feel is odd, how is that more enjoyable than learning an instrument and creating music that has uniquely come from yourself?
Using software that has stolen all of its source material from music that was created with passion, by real people and then calling yourself a musician… okay then.
What’s the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
That it’s okay to try new things and if they don’t work out, just accept it and try something else. It can be disheartening to spend loads of time writing a song for it to go nowhere, but sometimes that has to happen for you to eventually find gold!
What’s currently in your ears and on rotation at the moment?
Olivia Rodrigo, Royal Otis, Parcels, Thundercat… quite a nice variety haha
What was your worst experience on stage? Any funny stories to share?
We once played a show that nearly ended up in multiple fights as well as the roof leaking onto our gear on stage. Plenty of drinks were needed after that show!!
Got any fun, funny stories from life on the road?
We played a show in Manchester where the venue was actually being renovated but no one had informed the promoter.
We turned up to the building covered in scaffolding and had to play on a makeshift stage in the cloak room. It was a fairly large cloak room to be honest.
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
Our new Single “BMW” is a high energy summertime bop!! It came together pretty quickly and we just felt the vibe was right to release it. Hopefully it’s one that will hook people in!!
What was the recording process like?
The recording process was a breeze as always. Our Producer always makes recording enjoyable and comes up with some great ideas to help elevate the songs even more.
We love being in the studio and seeing our song ideas fully come to life.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
There’s always little things you can look back on and want to change, just to hear it in a different way.
We have to be willing to finally let a song be released the way it is though, otherwise you’ll just end up in the mixing phase forever!
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
We have some pretty big shows coming up and next year is shaping up to be the best yet!! Plenty of new music, plenty of big shows and plenty of vibes!!
