EDINBURGH FRINGE 2023 : MONDAY 7TH AUGUST PICKS OF THE DAY

EDINBURGH FRINGE 2023 : MONDAY 7TH AUGUST PICKS OF THE DAY

Day three and there seems to be an awful lot of rimming/butt play-related jokes this year. I guess it’s just something in the air.

Interestingly only one comedian has even mentioned the women’s world cup. The Pleasance courtyard seems more disorganised than ever with some shows being delayed by 30 minutes!

DARREN HARRIOTT: ROADMAN

Darren not only has a new brilliant Edinburgh show, but he also has some new facial hair to experience, which even he is still surprised by.

Darren oozes charm which is probably why he is invited onto his fair share of gameshows. When he isn’t on TV, Darren is practicing his newfound love of Latin dance and discovering how the correct way is to drink red wine.

A comedian at ease with himself and the audience as the hour flew by.

A SHOW FOR GARETH RICHARDS

A show for Gareth Richards was set-up by comedy friends Mark Simmons and Danny Ward to raise money for his children after his tragic death last spring.

This is the venue where Gareth had played many times before and had already booked the room for this year’s run, before his sad passing.

Many of the biggest names on the fringe have donated their time to perform and celebrate his life, including Frank Skinner, Stewart Lee and Shaporak Khorsaki. A brilliant hour of stand-up with three different acts each day and a brilliant cause.

FRANK SKINNER: 30 YEARS OF DIRT

Frank is still a class act.

I first saw him 25 years ago and he still manages to make myself and the sold-out theatre belly laugh for an hour. This year Frank is struggling to cut out the blue material but still manages to deliver two perfectly crafted family-friendly jokes that he says were worth the £18 entry fee alone.
