EDINBURGH FRINGE : PICKS OF THE DAY – TUESDAY 8TH AUGUST 2023

Day four of the Fringe. The body is aching and only the power of Irn Bru and Greggs is getting me through (not a sponsored post). Still quite a few disorganised venues and I had to leave a show 15 minutes early, but its only a week in and hopefully the kinks will get ironed out. Still loving the experience though.

PHIL ELLIS: EXCELLENT COMEDY SHOW

Phil brought another manic hour of comedy to Edinburgh, including a live band. Filled with TikTok ready sketches, rapping and a few surprises. Expect some slightly controlled chaos. His show title was pretty bang on, so good that you can almost forgive the weird smell of the Hive.

PAUL FOOT: DISSOLVE

Dissolve is Paul’s most personal show to date. A big change happened in Paul’s life last year and this show takes you back to that moment in close detail. One thing that hasn’t changed is his ability to deliver big laughs. Tip top stand up, and a show unlike anything he has done before.

JODIE MITCHELL: BECOMING JOHN TRAVULA

Jodie’s debut hour combines Jodie’s drag king persona John Travula (pictured above) with their own to create a narrative of an incident that happened last Christmas. Directed by Sofie Hagen, this hour is a sublime showcase for Jodie’s dynamic talent and a show that I have never seen before. Comedy, theatre, dancing and so much more. This is surely going to be one of the most talked about shows of the Fringe.
