Fossway have recently returned with their new single, ‘Live in The Fire’. The release of ‘Live in The Fire’ follows on from a highly successful 2019, which saw Fossway release their debut EP and play massive festivals such as Lindisfarne and Long Division – sharing stages with the likes of Peter Hook & The Light and We Are Scientists.
Fossway’s alt-rock sound is clear throughout ‘Live in The Fire’, yet this release sees the band experiment with their sound more. The track features nods to prog-rock, with heavier segments twinned beautifully with more subdued moments, allowing Fossway to broaden their sound massively.
‘Live in The Fire’ sits at 4 and a half minutes long, for that time the listener is completely consumed by Fossway’s unique, exciting sound. Combining the highlights of Muse, Royal Blood and Calva Louise, the band are destined to leave an impact on the listener.
With ‘Live in The Fire’, Fossway wanted to create a track which discusses their journey ‘as a band through hyperbole’, the song, lyrically is about the burning desire to play shows in front of live audiences, travelling to new cities to see different audiences.
The bands previous release, ‘Grey Cloud’, received tonnes of positive feedback, leaving the band optimistic about ‘Live in The Fire’. The track holds a soaring chorus with hard-hitting riffs and a finale which is destined to sound incredible live.
Despite ‘Live in The Fire’ being Fossway’s sixth release, it feels like a completely fresh start for the band, seeing them diversify their sound, ultimately really taking them up a level. In the rollercoaster which is 2020, Fossway really brings some light. It is evident how much effort Fossway has put into this release and it will be interesting to see how they use these prog-rock elements in further releases.
