GUSTAFFSON ALBUM LAUNCH LIVE IN LIVERPOOL – WHAT HAPPENED?

Having followed Gustaffson’s journey over the last couple of years I was incredibly excited to be making my first trip to the Jacaranda Baltic in Liverpool. The band have prepared a series of album launches to celebrate the debut album ‘Black & White Movie’ which was released on Friday, so celebrations were happening backstage and spirits high as the band prepared to take to the stage for a sell out show.

The four piece have built up quite a following, all esteemed musicians in their own right, with lead singer Andrew Gower well known for his acting roles, and bass player David Gleave, one of Manchester’s finest photographers, so a huge creative collaborate project and one that is certain to be successful!

Some of the crowd had waited for a number of hours at the front of the barrier to secure a spot. Although the venue is quite roomy, the dim lighting made the whole affair quite intimate. Gower has a wonderful ability to play with the audiences emotions and delivered a powerful enigmatic performance. Sorrowful and beautiful with an element of hope in the lyrics that stay with you long after the song ends.

The band is a laid back affair in some respects, with Gower’s voice a combination of jazz and soul, at times Gleave sits down in the slower numbers, a very cool stage presence, a band completely at ease with one another, electric chemistry that is certainly not common place these days.

The band have already gained a healthy fan base across the UK and will be returning to Manchester on the 9th May to once again play the iconic Night and Day on Oldham Street. For more tour dates and an opportunity to purchase the new album, head to the bands official website below.
