Manchester’s Gustaffson are a talented bunch, led by Andrew Gower, a gentleman of many talents, well known for his television work (including Black Mirror and Outlander), he also leads this wonderful band of well established musicians. The band are selling out venues all over the UK, with their London date at Bush Hall in Shepherds Bush likely to be a sell out too.
Their latest video features a number of famous faces, Sharon D Clarke, Matthew McNulty, Kiran Sonia Sawar, and Waj Ali. Not only does the video feature such a high calibre of actor, the video was directed by Bafta nominated Metin Huseyin.
In their own words the band described the latest release with Gower saying “In the studio we referenced epic drawn out songs like ‘Gimme Shelter’ by the Stones. Whilst grounded in truth and the world’s harsh realities, there’s crucially a collective journey to joy. I was determined to tell a story with real characters and open a gateway into their complex lives.”
Underground is the third single from ‘Black & White Movie’, following on from the soulful ‘On Broadway’ and the haunting ‘Flowers’, featuring Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary (Outlander, Walking Dead). The album, out on Friday 21st March 2025, was produced by Elbow’s Craig Potter and features a cameo from legendary actor Sir Ben Kingsley.
Having listened to the record you cannot help but feel moved by the dynamic melody and intense vocal, which is complimented by the haunting cinematic film that enhances the experience and is beautifully aesthetic, and deep.
