‘These Days’ marks the start of a new era for Harriet Rose. It is her long-awaited return since her last single ‘Sunsets’ released in 2024. Between then and now, Rose has been up to a whole lot – from playing numerous festivals last summer to playing multiple sold out shows at Sheffield Arena, performing as the ‘Special Guest Artist’ with Young Voices
More about her new single though… the track opens with a dreamy string chord, accompanied by a gentle piano melody which continues into the first verse.
The first verse is very stripped back, with just the piano melody layered under Harriet’s voice, allowing her to take full control and focus the listeners in on her storytelling. Rose describes feelings of missing her childhood, dreading growing up: it’s something practically everyone can relate to feeling at some point in their lives.
The beat of the track springs back up just in time for the first chorus, with a tight, drumpad-like beat getting introduced with the bass and guitar, filling out the layers under Harriet’s voice
The song maintains its dreamy feel all the way through, with the synth-like strings keeping a steady drone underneath the track
The song feels grounded by Harriet’s mid-range vocals, which never reach too far beyond her comfort zone. She stays well within her limits, and it works really well for her: her voice sounds healthy, full, and authentic to her
With recent features on BBC Look North, BBC Introducing North East, and a fast approaching headline show at Leeds’ Oporto followed by a set at Y-Not Festival, ‘These Days’ has kicked off a busy 2026 for Harriet Rose!
