Nottingham alt-rockers Hunch Power return with their new track, Sick Sick World. Following up from Does It Hurt back in March, it again plants itself somewhere between punk rock and grunge.
Elongated riffs and certain darkness which penetrates their sound give off distinct Pixies vibes, with the vocals combatting that to give it it’s more British edge. As with their previous singles, they manage to inject a real sense of macabre into their sound both through lyrics and mood which is especially prominent here.
The band have big plans for 2026. Having now already released two singles, they have more gigs and premieres lined up as they continue to sell their sound to new audiences. Hometown gigs are lined up at Rock City in October as well as in London November.
Perhaps their most exciting event though will be the release of their frontman’s rockumentary Follow Your Hunches at the Lumiere Cinema in Romford, an event which will also see the premiere of this tracks music video.
Sick Sick World, without changing too much in their formula for making music, still feels like a leap forward for Hunch Power. It follows down the well trodden path they have already began to forge for themselves, but continues an exciting trend of them getting a little better with each release.
This is their strongest and most re-listenable song to date, and paves the way for the rest of this year to be an exciting time for them. There is definitely much more to come.
