RGM Presenter Ellie Colton is on the hunt to meet and get to know the best-unsigned artists around, in this post she gets to know the very talented Charlotte Branson

I sit down with Charlotte Branson, a singer/ songwriter from Sheffield. Usually I do these interviews in Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens but as it’s November it’s too cold and rainy! We have just been placed into Tier 3 so I’ve made sure every interview I do from now if we are indoors, I will wear a mask 🙂

Charlotte has been singing for years however she’s only really been taking the socials by storm in the last 365 days. She is constantly getting views and shares on her videos of covers, especially on Facebook.

My favourite cover of hers is Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics, it’s bloody mesmerising, you’ve got to check it out on her YouTube. She even changed my mind about an iconic song – I’ve always hated Hey Ya! by OutKast, but I listened to her version and I was blown away.

She doesn’t just bring the covers though, her newest original single is out Tomorrow (October 27th) and it’s called ‘All Night’. Charlotte describes it as a sexy track about longing to be with someone but you can’t. Interestingly, she says all her music is based off personal experience…I wonder who she’s admiring? It’s a mystery!

If you’re into your soul/pop/jazz/RnB, then Charlotte is your new favourite artist because she puts her own twist on everything she sings and she sounds absolutely timeless.

Although most of her videos are from her bedroom, she reckons a choreographed music video is on the horizon. I’m super excited about that revelation, you should be too.

You can catch Charlotte doing her monthly Facebook lives and a few live gigs in November so make sure you check her out.

In the meantime, enjoy this 20 minute interview. We talk everything from new music to mysterious song lyrics to how Charlotte’s favorite animal is a whale. Imagine one of those as a pet?!
