Jao Amos Interview – RGM Introducing

Thanks for joining us today… Tell us bit about where you are from and how you got into music?

Im from the east midlands and grew up in different places in Derbyshire and moved about a lot when I was young.. I first started music when I was was 19 and I was studying art and design at college..

Got my first laptop at 19 too and started making music while I spent time in the hospital with my mental health..

What’s the live music scene like in Derby right now?

I attend an open mic night in Derby and in my local town in Eastwood.Love to perform or attend any event that’s music orientated..

Do you think its easy to become a victim of of our surrounds sometimes?

I do think it is easy to become and take influence off of your surroundings in both a positive and negative way – As flo wers need touch and love they also need to be in the right place for them to thrive and I think this is the same as with people..

Although I do think tougher times make stronger perceptions of life.. Its not easy breaking any sort of surrounding but I think if you can keep strong and wait for better times there will always be an opportunities to change yourcourse or choices in life..

What are your ambitions?

My ambitions are many and have big plans but more important than ambition Ithink is dedication, and my dream is too see my mum retire.. Although selfishly I would love to be able to travel the world and have a family all supported by a career in music..

Whats your favourite social media platform to use and why?

My favourite music platform is Instagram as I use my spare time to be nosey and see what everyone else is doing 🙂

By all mean’s would love my platforms to go viral and would appreciate any exposure or help with me progressing as an artist..

What’s your view on the Music industry today?

I feel the music industry is so hard to get into and it may be easier for some, but I think making it as a total independent artist is rare now days.i think a lot of music is copied most of the time so I try to aim to be as different as I can be..

Whats your thoughts on AI generated music?

Not a fan of AI – I’m a 90’s kid so I do everything old school and to behonest ,wouldn’t know were to start but I think AI can also improve what ever field you take and can be a good guide to what you want to accomplish..

Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?

I started from scratch with my music so over 16 year’s doing mine ,I have learnt many ways to accomplish everything I possibly can within my means and ways..

What’s currently in your ears and on rotation at the moment?

I still listen to all the oldies(90’s hiphop) and Indie..

All the originals..

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

My music is for those struggling and that need to escape, I feel and hope my music can help people find them selfs in all ways it can , and will give them the backbone they need for everything this life throws at us.. I just keep going – Music has saved me from many tough times and I hope mine can help in return..

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

I would love to share my music with the world and that’s (JAO AMOS)
