Jeff ‘The Fish’ Lefroy has a pretty simple message with his new single “Show Me Your Empathy”: forget the size of someone’s car, their bank account or what they own. What matters is how they treat people. Honestly, I can get behind that.
The track brings together Lefroy’s contemporary blues influences with a good dose of rock, soul and funk. It has that classic feel of a musician who has spent years playing and writing while the lyrics do not try to make the message complicated. Indeed, lines like “It’s what you do that means a lot” and “Your actions speak louder than words” get straight to the point.

I’ll admit the intro felt a little too long for me, especially since it is quite repetitive, but once the vocals start, the chorus gives it a nice lift. I particularly enjoyed the moment when Jeff’s voice is joined by a female vocalist. There is something really nice about the two voices together and it made me wish we could have heard more of that throughout the track and not just in the chorus.
In fact, when the woman gets her own moment on the hook, I found myself wishing this had been developed into a proper duet. Her voice adds another colour to the song, and I would have loved to know more about who she is. Maybe that is something for another release?
What I like most about “Show Me Your Empathy” is that its message is incredibly easy to remember. “If you really want to impress me / Show me your empathy” could genuinely become a little mantra. In a world where people can spend so much time talking about what they have achieved, Lefroy puts the focus somewhere much more important: what we actually do for one another.
And with Jeff releasing a new single every six weeks throughout 2026, it sounds like there will be plenty more of his blues-rock world to discover.
