KELIS LIVE IN MANCHESTER

KELIS LIVE IN MANCHESTER – WHAT HAPPENED?

Whilst milkshakes were not on the menu this evening, international award winning artist Kelis certainly brought a large percentage of Manchester to ‘her yard’. Albert Hall was once again packed to the rafters, fans eager to see Kelis on the UK leg of her current tour.

Playing only a handful of UK dates, with the tour ending this week, the singer took to the stage with an impressive backing ensemble and belted out hit after hit to an impassioned audience who were literally reaching over the barrier to try and get closer to their idol.

Kelis’s last tour on UK soil was her pandemic postponed tour ‘Kalidescope’ two years ago which was to celebrate twenty years since its release.

Kelis kicked off her set with ‘Intro’ followed by a ‘22nd and Brave Mash up’. The crowd erupted into hysterics at song three when the famous intro to her 1999 smash hit ‘Caught Out There’ and I was immediately transported back to my school days (not necessarily a good thing) but the nostalgia hits, perhaps as Kelis’s voice is a fine as it ever was.

The set included a couple of cover tracks which slotted in nicely amongst the original material. The Nirvana cover ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’ Suited her vocal range perfectly, and she really went to town on the chorus, this was followed by the more mellow rendition of Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’.

Kelis is playing at Glastonbury this weekend headlining the ‘West Holts Stage’, before heading to London and Southampton to finish of the UK leg. More information about Kelis can be found HERE.
