KESHA LIVE IN MANCHESTER – WHAT HAPPENED AT HER SOLD OUT SHOW?

Another Friday night and another belting gig at Albert Hall. Tonight was the turn of American pop sensation Kesha to turn this beautiful venue into a massive hot house of pop. The fans had started to line the streets as early as 6pm, eager to bag a spot at the barrier.

By the time I reached the venue, the main hall was packed with a sea of pink cowboy hats and glitter. Kesha fever had arrived on Peter Street and it was fever pitch by the time the clock struck nine. The smoke increased as did the trepidation as Kesha made her way to a chaise lounge and the opening chords of ‘Freedom’ kicked in. The crowd nearly drowned out the vocals with their incredibly loud screaming, but Kesha seemed unfazed, revelling in the chaos.

Her world famous Tik-Tok song was next and I must admit it is quite catchy, it would have been nice to hear it but the fans were increasing their volume at every single line. I was starting to think that Kesha would have been better in an arena, and I was later reliably informed she is coming to the Co-op Live next year!

Along with the Tik-Tok song came a number of male dancers, some impressive choreography from all, lots of gyrating and the energy on stage was undeniable. It was difficult to know where to look with so much going on. Track seven ‘Timber’ the Pitbull cover went down a treat with fans also now gyrating along to the music, many grasping cups of water from stewards as the temperature rose.

The show was accompanied by a large screen showing an array of images and patterns in keeping with the frantic performance. The show was split into acts, and by the final act Kesha treated fans to a two track encore, ‘JOYRIDE’ which is without a doubt one of her biggest hits to date and then ended the evening on and extended outro of ‘Die Young’. This is the first pop concert I have seen here at Albert Hall and it just goes to show the varied genres and amazing calibre of stars this venue can draw in!
