LIAMC – WE INTERVIEW THE LONDON BAD BOY AND TALK MUSIC, MEMORIES AND HIS MUM

LiamC moved to London on a whim, taking only the change in his pocket, and struck out to make it big. Busking around London with a ukulele, Liam took control of his own destiny by grabbing a hi-viz jacket and sneaking into Ed Sheeran’s music video shoot in Soho to play some of his songs to the chart topper, sending him viral.

Since then, Liam has had a rollercoaster ride, including massive backlash for his similar ambush of Dua Lipa at Glastonbury in 2024. True to form, Liam picked himself up, brushed himself off, and, in early 2026, released his incredible debut album “Personal Space”, followed closely by a sell-out tour across the UK.

His first song, “Tina”, hit my radar shortly before its release, with a great summer vibe and catchy lyrics that are set to grab everyone’s attention this summer. Shortly followed by “Cherryade”, this foot-tapping tune was celebrated amongst this fast-expanding fan base.

I caught up with LiamC backstage after being invited to watch his soundcheck with a few fans who had arrived early for the gig.

So Liam, how has the tour been so far?

We’re nearly at the end now. It’s been a special one, being my first.

Let’s start with some musical history. Who do you get your inspiration from when songwriting?

I write with a guy called Jamie Reynolds, who was the lead singer of the Klacksons; he’s the most talented individual I’ve ever had the pleasure to be in the company of. He’s a brilliant, brilliant person in life and a phenomenal songwriter who I’m constantly learning from.

Who would you love to open for?

Sabrina Carpenter, haha, nah, I’m joking. Nah, actually that would be f**cking cool, or Robbie Williams, I’d love to support Robbie.

If you could sell out any venue, where would it be, and who would you have supporting?

That’s a good question! Erm, Wembley and Ed Sheeran, haha, no, I’m joking, erm. I would say dream venue; I would say 3 nights sold out at Colchester Park, my hometown; and I would bang a guy called Cosy Joe on the lineup, and I would bang Ed Sheeran on, yeah.

Best advice you’ve been given?

Only answer to the mirror, the mirror never lies.

Biggest musical challenge you’ve had so far?

Dealing with some of the hate after my video with Dua Lipa, I think that was a difficult time, maybe a difficult 6 months. The press went in hard on me; it was hard to overcome that, but as always, resilience is key, and we overcome it.

If your tour van could complain about one thing, what would it be?

LC Great question! Erm, stop smoking and tell Steph to get in me quicker because it takes ages to get our drummer, Stephan in the van. He’s lagging in life, he like, buffers all the time. Ironically, they are sh*t at keeping time.

In 5-10 years time, where do you see yourself?

Surrounded by family in a big country house with millions in my bank account, knowing that my mum never needs to work again. I think for me, I’ll be living the dream vicariously through my family. I’m working so hard to take the pressure off my mum, you know. My mum is still walking around with holes in her shoes; she’s a cleaner. You know, we’re all really trying, I’m a part-time pop star at the moment, trying and scrimping and saving to put food on my mum’s plate so definitely the dream would be in the middle of a stadium tour doing what I’m doing now, but to hundreds of thousands of people and knowing that I’m financially stable.

What’s coming next for you?

We’re about to announce another tour, and we’ve got another EP dropping. Erm, yeah, we’ve got some great festivals. We’re doing Goat Fest, Kendall Calling, and Party in the Park.

Hypothetical question for you, if you could have a dinner party and invite 6 guests, dead or alive, who would you invite and why?

Michael Jackson because he’s the greatest showman on earth. Ian Drury would be in there because he’s an absolute geezer. Ed Sheeran, I feel Christian Ronaldo should be thrown in there because it would be funny. I’d love to punch Hitler in the face, so I’d invite him just to kick him out. The last one would be Elvis.

LIAMC

Who is your childhood hero?

Can I say my mum? Is that a bad answer?

Posters you had on your wall as a kid?

Michael Jackson was a big influence, Jamie T, Sheeran, Plan B, anything from that early 200’s, you know?

Favourite gig you’ve attended?

The Wombats at Glastonbury, Charlie XCX was playing at the same time, so I thought F**k that and went to see The Wombats and had a brilliant time.

Top songs on your playlist?

On the way to a show, I always listen to Praise You by Fatboy Slim. I love that song; it always gets me in the mood. Erm, then Dennis Waterman If I Could Be So Good To You, the Minder theme tune, we actually come out to that. A bit of Rap, there’s got to be a bit of Rap in there, maybe like Deadly. My playlist is everywhere, from Elvis to Ian Drury and The Rolling Stones to Sabrina Carpenter.

When you aren’t doing music, what do you like to do?

I used to like to drink and take drugs, but I’m chilling out of that.  I’m enjoying reading, I’m enjoying going for walks, and I just really enjoy the fact that I live in Camden Town. I’m trying not to take that for granted right now. I’m not sure how long I’m going to be here, so I’m trying to really soak up living in London right now.

Go to karaoke tune?

Stand By Me

Most useless talent?

I don’t know, drinking a lot, I’ve had to stop that, it put me back.

Never leave home without?

Headphones, my Diesel aftershave, my mum gets me every 6 months, birthdays and Christmas, and my sunglasses

What’s your favourite joke?

Erm, I probably can’t say it haha, anything from Mickey Flannigan. I’m not gonna give you a joke, but just watch Mickey Flannigan, I love it.
