Lucy Warr takes her songwriting to the next level to the follow up of her debut single ‘Energy’. Titled ‘Rip It Off‘, the songwriter’s second single is synth pop at it’s finest. Polished and executed perfectly, the tracks inspiration came from a darker place.
Exploring the stigma of what happens inside our minds with mental health struggles, the track is a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Illustrating what it feels like to live daily with mental health problems, ‘Rip It Off‘ refuses to be left in the shadows.
‘Rip It Off’ tells the story that it is ok to not be ok. In a time where the world feels absolutely hopeless, this song couldn’t have come at a better time. A shoulder to cry on in the darkest of days, ‘Rip It Off’ normalises to stop pretending and to expose the stigma of what we’re feeling. Coated with an infectious pop melody, acrobatic rhythm and distinctive vocals, the production of ‘Rip It Off’ is overwhelming, but in the best way.
Produced by Tokøta, ‘Rip It Off‘ has the ability to leave you wanting more. A refreshing singer-songwriter who deserves to be up there with the greats, this may be Lucy Warr’s second release to date, but it certainly is a statement that this artist means business.
