Singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from the West of Scotland has been all over the globe already, playing headline shows across the UK, Europe, and even North America. After the release of his debut EP “Whoever That Is”in 2017, Matt, now backed with a band, has been uplifting the indie spirits with his sultry voice and elegant songwriting. Receiving support from fellow Scottish musicians such as Paolo Nutini, Matt’s journey to the top is looking sure to be successful.
Back with “I Don’t Dance” released today, Matt has an identifiable sound that will leave you knowing straight away that it’s him. The track features a blue-inspired sound, and definitely has the repetition of a blues number, but there’s something about it that sticks out for it to fit into the indie category. Towards the end of the track, dynamically it’s in your face, as for the rest, not so much. The song feels like it lacks a certain amount of energy that it craves, but the last installment of Matt’s serious of singles will still get your ears wiggling along to the music.
In other words, it’s ear candy. Taking a minimalist approach to songwriting, simplicity is definitely key within Matt’s songs and even though it’s left feeling slightly empty, it’s great to hear space within a track. Keep your eyes and ears open for this track to drop. If you love simplicity and indie-blues, you’ll love Matt.
