Hiya MICHELLAR, thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today. Grab a brew and take a seat.
Thanks for joining us today… Tell us bit about where you are from and how you got into music?
I am from San Francisco California . I got into music because my parents played and sung music to us kids from a very early age.
What’s the live music scene like in (SAN FRANCISCO) right now? The SF Music scene is thriving and vibrant. There are many emerging songwriters and performers in the horizon that
I have pleasure of watching and playing with on stage during Open Mics,
Anyone we should be looking out for at THE RIPTIDE, of course? I recently met a young kid named KOSTA who is pop singer songwriter. He is a talented performer and producer as well.
We have shared some songs and may collaborate in the near future.
Do you think its easy to become a victim of our surrounds sometimes?
Yes , it is very easy to become a victim of our surroundings, We are a reflection of the people we have grown up and lived with . Their beliefs and ideas have become part of our systems . At times these systems are hard to shake off.
What are your ambitions for the songwriter?
My ambitions is to write songs that connect with people and by that I can be a part of someone’s world even if it is just for a brief moment. Its like they become a visitor at my home …to experience what I experience and feel the feelings I have and share a world we both can enjoy .
Whats your favourite social media platform to use and why?
Instagram is my favorite social media platform because it is so easy to use although the algorithm often denies me exposure.
We believe its essential to have a presence on Facebook, Instagram and X to introduce yourself to all the different types of audiences out there, what’s your thoughts on that?
Social media has been instrumental in getting your art seen and heard . Its is very important for any artist who dreams to connect and share to be part of these platforms.
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
The Music industry is a difficult industry to work in. Besides the music creation…. There are so many more aspects to becoming a successful participant in this field. Marketing,Collaborations, Budgeting and Performing are just a few more avenues that any musician need to run on besides the music creation.
It can become very exhaustive really quickly…. mentally, physically and financially.
Whats your thoughts on AI generated music?
AI generated music is definitely taking over the industry like a cancer. It is so rampant and discouraging to have to deal with it. For people who do not use it as a tool …. Often degrades the qualities of the human spirit that goes into the creation of a song. However AI as a tool , is a wonderful companion in the creation of sounds one wants to pursue . It has no limitations in that aspect . In that way … you have no limitations too. The sky is the limit .
Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
You have to discipline yourself to stick to schedule and budgets…. Otherwise you can easily become unhealthy really quickly.
What’s currently in your ears and on rotation at the moment?
I have a lot of interest in Pop and Psychedelia at the moment. Both genres excite my curiosities .
What was your worst experience on stage?
One of the worst experience on stage is forgetting my lyrics not being able to read my music sheet because I forgot my glasses. Any funny stories to share? One person from the audience shouted out … “ DID you actually fucking write that song ? “ which shocked me …. But we became friends at the end .
Got any fun, funny stories from life on the road?
I really have not been on the road for any Musical events so I haven’t had any funny stories yet.
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
I have singles getting released every month from April through December . I have written so many songs that I want to keep sharing them. They are lived in experiences and thoughts about Life.
What was the recording process like?
The recording process is challenging sometimes looking to hear and achieve that perfect sound. Some songs can take up to 30 takes just so one can finish satisfying that curiosity.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
I am so happy to say that I did my best and I believe that I have made and written something I can really be proud of .
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
That life is too short not to go after what makes you feel happy. We as humans naturally fear what we could have done.
But I think it’s worst to find out … that what we could have done can lead to the best version of ourselves . Fearing things is a mental state that needs to be controlled or broken. We are more resilient than we think.
