Entering with a hypnotic percussive cello melody, ‘See‘ escapes normality and enters a place best described as paradise. Midori Jaeger is a classically trained cellist who blends multiple genres to create her unique sound, and her latest release could well be her most original track to date. Taken from his forthcoming EP of soulful numbers this spring, ‘See, Touch, Kick and Sweat’ is a release that needs to be on EVERYONE’s radar.
Coming across as slightly uneasy in places because of its unusual rhythm, it’ll come at no surprise that the track was influenced by a sinister message. Talking about the sleep paralysis that Midori sometimes experiences, the eerie sounds and hallucinations that fatigue brings to the table is something we can all relate to in some way, especially over this past year.
Unafraid to explore personal stories and uncommon music ground, what makes Midori stand out from the crowd is her breathtaking songwriting. Not for the weak, faint hearted people that would rather listen to Dua Lipa for the rest of their lives (nothing against that of course, I’m a huge Dua fan too!) – ‘See‘ is expansive, complex and 100% impressive.
Slightly triggering, Midori’s new single continues to get your brain thinking each time you listen, which can be interpreted as a good and bad thing.
