MIKEY 9'S

MICKEY 9’S LIVE AT GULLIVERS – WHAT HAPPENED?

Gullivers NQ was buzzing long before Glasgow’s Mickey 9s hit the stage. The Northern Quarter venue, packed with a mix of loyal fans and curious first-timers, felt electric, the kind of charged atmosphere that promised a night to remember. Drinks in hand, everyone was ready for the band’s infectious mix of dance-punk and indie-rock.

When Mickey 9s finally hit the stage, the crowd erupted. From the very first beat of Uncanny Valley, it was clear that this wasn’t going to be a polite, background gig. The energy was instant. People were bouncing, heads nodding, and there were more than a few arms waving wildly in time with the rhythm. The band fed off the crowd’s excitement, trading glances and smiles that only made the room feel tighter and more alive.

Highlights of the set included Straight White Male, which had everyone singing along with a mixture of amusement and admiration, and a few newer tracks that showed off the band’s versatility and tight-knit performance. Between songs, their cheeky banter and quick-witted remarks had the audience laughing as much as dancing. At one point, someone in the crowd shouted a request, and the band delivered it with a grin, a small but perfectly executed moment of connection that made the gig feel personal.

The finale was pure chaos in the best possible way, with the whole crowd jumping along to the last track, drenched in sweat but grinning from ear to ear. As the lights came up and people started drifting out into the Northern Quarter night, there was a shared sense of having witnessed something special. Mickey 9s might be relatively new to Manchester, but tonight they proved why they are fast becoming one of Scotland’s most exciting live acts.
