These Walls is the newest single and it’s one you need to give a listen to. It has a really immediate start, launching into this beautiful instrumental opening, very orchestral, giving this feeling of a ballroom just being lit up. It’s magical and a bit chilling just because it sounds so stunning.
There’s a very consistent tempo and tone throughout which is set at the beginning, and the fact that it remains means that you really get time to appreciate how amazing that sound is.
It only gets better when the vocals come in, male first and then female vocals join. The two voices share the lyrics with independent lines but then blend together to create a gorgeous harmony over that haunting instrumentation. The female vocals also waver slightly in places which sounds really lovely, almost like a tremble, fighting back the emotion.
The title is repeated a lot throughout the track. It is said several times every time the chorus comes in and it also feels really emotional and the repetition highlights that. The whole song feels very powerful in trying to create a sense of emotion but the constant message of ‘these walls won’t hold me anymore’ really stands out.
There’s a full sounding instrumental section that acts as a bridge further into the track. It has the ability to draw you in and follows it with a quiet moment, repeating that line again, before building back up to lead out with an outro. Again, really powerful, and then there is an enchanting mixture of the two vocals again layering over each other in what feels like finality. It’s such an emotionally driven song and it completely gets everything about it right making for a beautiful track.
