One of Manchester’s newest indie-folk bands Syncere have released their track “Why Should I Long To Be Believed?”, it’s a fresh sound, with Louie and Isabel sharing joint lead vocals, plus Archie on vocals and guitar, and Nathan on lead guitar.
The band are really hoping to make their mark on the Manchester music scene and beyond, promising original, harmony-driven music.
Harmonious is one way to describe it, what a hook in for the original, the indie-folk style comes right off the bat and Isabel’s vocals shortly follow and bloody hell, her voice is stunning!
It’s a very gentle, soft track with some indie-esque guitar twangs injected into it, giving it that extra “oomph”, which probably wasn’t needed, but I’m certainly not mad about it!
The song does get more upbeat as it goes on, and does have a feel of pop running under it, but I can certainly feel the folk within the band and they do it really well.
I’m generally not a big fan of genre-mixing unless you can do it well, look at Red Rum Club, Gorillaz, dare I say even the early years of Linkin Park, but that’s just me, if you’re going to do it, you need to do it well and Syncere have proved to me from their debut song that they are more than capable.
The lyrics are dense, romantic in parts, but also melancholic, giving a really relatable mix and just lifting the song up to another level, it is really impressive.
The backing vocals also really add to it, but it’s mastered beautifully, meaning Isabel’s voice front and centre and whatever they’re doing, it works, we could be onto something special here.
