PAUL WELLER LIVE IN BLACKBURN – WHAT HAPPENED?

The Modfather himself was on amazing form in Blackburn this week as hordes of fans descended on Blackburn’s King Georges Hall to catch The Jam and Style Council icon.

Paul Weller is currently on a UK tour with some alternative venues on towns thrown into the mix. The venue this evening is a beauty, and I was excited to get out of Manchester for an evening trip up North to sunny Blackburn (it was sunny…)

The former Jam crooner is releasing an album ’66’ which is also the title of this tour and features some gorgeous artwork by renowned music artist Peter Blake. You know when Blake gets involved the graphics will be iconic.

The setlist included songs from all stages of Weller’s career and as always the audience got their money’s worth with near thirty songs played in total. Highlights included a stunning rendition of ‘You Do Something to Me’ which personality makes you realise how diverse Weller’s craftsmanship is when penning songs.

The more upbeat numbers played out very well indeed with a very enthusiastic Blackburn audience singing along to ‘That’s Entertainment’ which was in the second generous encore.

Heading into his 66th year, Weller is as good as he ever was, and has no intention of taking it easy. His stage presence alone is godlike, and it is always a privilege to be in the same room as a man who continues to champion the MOD movement!

Tickets are limited for this current tour with many venues understandably sold out in record time, however keep an eye on venue socials as many release tickets a few hours before the gig. Take the opportunity to catch this icon at a slightly smaller venue before it is too late.
