Psychedelic Porn Crumpets live at the Ritz

PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS LIVE IN MANCHESTER – WHAT HAPPENED?

The Ritz was sold out for this Friday night punk fest as Aussie band Psychedelic Porn Crumpets rolled into town to impart their unique wacky presence on the people of Manchester. Formed a decade a go, this Perth based five piece have garnered a big following on the alt scene and are no stranger to a Manchester audience.

Support this evening came from FEET, an alternative rock band formed just over five years ago. The band had already attached a near capacity audience, quite a feat these days as lately I have seen the Ritz full up just before the headliner.

The band would struggle to fit into one genre, as they have elements of Blur, the wackiness of Wheatus and a little more 90’s indie vibe about them. Whatever mixture they were thrashing out worked on this audience because as soon as they were done, the crowd demanded more.

It wasn’t long before headliners Psychedelic Porn Crumpets (they deserve a five star review just for that name) burst onto the Ritz stage and caused absolute chaos. Dressed in what I may describe as an array of patterned frocks, the band kicked off the set with ‘Tally-Ho’ followed by ‘(I’m A Kadaver) Alakazam’.

The sound this evening was iffy and I felt it made the vocals muffled, not the bands fault but for a venue that charges what it does for a pint (not getting into that again but it’s grim) you would expect better sound, sort it out O2.

The audience’s enthusiasm and energy paid off (and the crowd surfing) as we were treated to an encore with fan favourites ‘Cornflake’ and ‘Hymn For A Droid’. This energy packed tour continues across the UK and for more information on where to catch this five piece click on the link below…
