Review : Ethan & The Reformation – Fractaline Fantasies
Rising stars,Ethan & The Reformation follow up their promising debut EP, Free From Everything with new single, Fractaline Fantasies. The track gives off a clear sense of what the band want to be and this is reflected in the fact that the track has been well-produced and mixed.
The Reformation’s sound is well thought out, offering a smooth blend of hard-rock with just a hint of psychedelia thrown into the mix. The sound reminds me a lot of Noel Gallagher’s recent work but The Reformation are able to apply their own take on the aesthetic.
This is owed largely to Ethan Davies’ growling vocal performance which compliments the other elements of the song well whilst also setting apart The Reformation apart from their contemporaries. This is supported further by some solid riff-work and drum work which really gives the track a complete feel. If I had any issues with Fractaline Fantasies, I would say that it was lacking that killer hook to really push it to the next level. However, finding said killer hook is often easier said than done so I don’t want to necessarily hold this against The Reformation.
Overall, Fractaline Fantasies is solid step in the right direction for Ethan & The Reformation although I’d say it is not quite up to par with debut single, Hollandia. Definitely one to watch out for in the coming months.
