RGM Introducing – LATE NIGHT LEGACY

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

Hiya lads, how are you doing today?

All good man, super chilled on a Sunday! How you doin?

Sound ta. What have you been doing during lock down?

As a band, with the help of modern technology we’ve actually been recording all the new demo tracks we wrote in between lockdowns ☺

Matt records the drums in his bedroom , fires them over to myself and Rob to lay guitars and vocals at our house, over to James for bass and back to Matt for a final polish/mix. Literally sending the files over whatsapp lol It’s been a great way to sit back and listen to our new set as a whole and see what works and doesn’t work before we wax loads of money in the studio

How has it effected your mental health?

I can only speak for myself, obviously I miss seeing family and close friends as the majority of mine live in Cumbria. Other than that I actually really enjoy hibernating, it’s helped me focus on so many things I wanted to accomplish without the day to day distractions. I was already a bit of a  germaphobe before all this so I guees it’s hightened my irrational cleaning tendencies.

So tell me a little bit about you and what you like doing for fun?

I’m learning to tattoo at the minute so that’s been pretty cool, that and drawing pencil pet portraits for people over lockdown keeping me Zen haha not the most rock and roll thing to do but I enjoy it.

Like the rest of the lads I enjoy lifting weights, drinking beers and thai boxing, I guess that seperates us from alot of bands on the scene atm, we all love martial arts and hitting stuff… or maybe it doesn’t I don’t know what most bands get up to in their down time.

How do you think the government have looked after the the night time economy?

I mean, I wouldn’t like to have to decide how money was given out I imagine it’s been a very tough decision all round but I don’t see much difference to sitting down at a gig with a pint and sitting down for a meal with six friends. At least at a gig you’re all facing the same way and not spitting over eachothers food chatting away 😂 not much logic to alot of the decisions but I understand they need to make money somehow, I’m just ready for a couple of jabs in the arm if it means I can go see my family.

What good bands are coming out of Leeds at the minute?

Oh man, SO many! and so many not getting the recognition they deserve. Allora have the voices of angels and such a chill vibe, Artio are doing something totally different musically atm, worth checking out for sure, Avenoir boys keep it heavy and put on a decent live show, WUZI have such a cool sound and have recently added a new guitarist so looking forward to hearing those boys again and I’m sure you’ve heard of ALLUSINLOVE, yeah they’ve been killing it since day 1.

What’s your favourite song right now from another band?

Not leeds band but close enough, FAUX PAS – Gorilla Man (Alternate version) is a sick track.

What support is out there for new artists in Leeds?

Not that much it seems at the minute lol we’ll get the odd share from pages on insta etc. But not much else which is a shame because the scene is MASSIVE just under funded and under-represented.

For teen bands there’s a few pretty cool things like competitions to play Leeds & Reading I think it’s through Martin House charity or something? But If you’re over 21 you gotta work your way up the hard way.

If your fans could remember one thing about you what would it be?

I mean in an ideal world I’d like to be remembered as a decent performer/singer/writer but I guess I’ll settle for just a nice guy 😊

What useless talent do you have/ party trick?

I think our whole band can all do handstand push-ups against a wall, but like to think we can do free standing handstands when we’re drunk and always fail…

What was the most fun you have had on stage?

Ummm… possibly Livestock festival opening for REEF back in 2018, it was the first time we had a real life stage tech, lights, swapping guitars the full works! It was MEGA, that and Monmouth festival in Wales to like 8000 people that was INSAAANE, had a queue a mile long of people asking us to sign literally anything, pretty sure I signed a Reebok jumper and an adidas trainer down there

What was the worst experience on stage?

Technical faults is every bands nightmare and usually completely out of our hands so I always pray for that not to happen, I did fall straight on my arse at a Key Club headline show but that was hilarious and happens often haha

Tell us something about each member that you think people would be surprised about?

James has 4:20 tattooed on his inside lower lip & can fit 1.5 hands inside his mouth (preferably his own

Matt has a collection of stuffed toys in his bass drum & an alter ego called ‘Mary’.

Rob is the biggest Star Wars fan ever and often dresses as a Jedi around the house pretending to open doors using the force

Best drink to have on stage?

Stella or Guinness or Both ☺

Tell us a funny story from backstage?

Well, I won’t name this festival… but I did invite a few people (bandmates included) backstage for this “free drink” we were promised… turns out it was only one drink, not per band member… per artist as a whole 😂 never laughed so much and been so embarrassed at the same time so funny.

Best gig you’ve been to that you weren’t playing?

Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes at Manchester o2 Academy 2, that was immense, Cleopatrick & Ho99o9 supported, such a class night, every band gave it their absolute all on stage, that’s always class to see x

Who would you like to work with on the circuit right now?

We’re in talks with a few artist features on the next few tracks but just seen the legends that are Nova Twins featuring on a Bring Me track called 1×1 it’s so sick, so working with either of those artists would be a bucket list job.

What advice would you give someone going into the music industry?

Don’t give up on your passion and dreams just because it’s hard, numbers and streams aren’t everything, obviously they open doors in today’s industry but don’t let that get in the way of something you enjoy doing. We may not all become superbands and that’s ok.

Whats your biggest achievement as a band?

I like to think of every track we release that we’re proud of as a huge achievement because it takes alot of work! But is so worth it when it’s out in the universe.

Tell us about a time when you had a proper reyt laugh while you were all together?

Literally every practise is so funny, I haven’t cried laughing so much as I did last month when we wrote a mess around song called Bangers, Sausages and Eminem or something I can’t remember exactlybut it was imagining an 80yr old Eminem making a return to the rap scene lol

I hear you have a new single brewing, what can you tell us about it?

Hell yeah! It’s called ‘Plastic Hearts’ myself and Rob recorded it with our producer Dan Mizen when we were looking for a new bassist & drummer (which we later found in Matt Exton & James Clegg)

The track was ENTIRELY funded by our fan-base via donations on our Spotify page which we are eternally grateful for, we have a special present planned for everyone that donated too ☺

Looking to release this bad boy Spring 2021 so shouldn’t be too long til you all hear it x

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

I wish I could share every song we’ve written with the new line up but that’s gonna have to wait until next Feb/March onwards, unless you have a ticket to our January 16th show at the Wardrobe then you’ll get a sneak peak of everything 😉

Thanks for doing us today folks, all the best and keep in touch.

Nae bother, thanks for having us RGM x
