RGM Introducing – The Cavs

Hiya lads take a seat, So we are not long off our sold out show at retro, did you enjoy it?

The show at Retro was class! seeing people on shoulders and singing along to our tunes, nothing can really come close to that! Big up to the support bands as well, Cascavel, The Demo and Assembly point were all mint. A proper solid night of music, Carl Maloney knows his bands!

Why Thanks 🙂 Introduce us all to The Cavs how did the band get together?

Elliot Craven – Lead singer (and best looking) Arthur Townson – Drums James Mcauley – Rhythm guitar Michael Carney – Bass Chris Terry – Lead Guitar Chris was kind of the catalyst of how we all met really. He met James in town and he worked with Michael, James and Elliot have been best mates for years and Arthur had mutual friends with Chris and came down to practice with us and we all got on straight away.

Which member is the biggest nightmare?

We all have our moments really but if we had to pick one then it would have to be James because he seems to disappear every time it comes to pack down after a gig and then reappears somewhere in the bar after.

What do you think about how effective social media channels are? Which one do you like best and why?

They are all good for us its the best way to pick up more support and we’ve really started to see the difference because of social media the past few weeks but we would say twitter is the best for us because its the one that has allowed us to contact more influential people in the industry.

Is there enough support out there for new artists?

There seems to be a pretty good scene in Manchester, but we could definitely do with more people like Carl promoting bands like ourselves. The new music scene in Manchester is absolutely BUZZING.

What was the most fun you have had on stage?

We put on our own gig at the Bullring in Eccles, Eccles being the hometown of our lead singer and rhythm guitarist and it went down an absolute storm! It sold out at 85 tickets in less than 48 hours and was by far our favourite gig! Certainly was a sweaty one!

What was the worst experience on stage?

We’ve never really had a collective nightmare on stage but one of our last gigs in the city centre our lead singers guitars strap broke and he dropped his acoustic. He says it wasn’t his fault, we beg to differ! We were riddled with feedback as well.

Tell us something about each member yourself that you think people would be surprised about?

Elliot failed his theory test 9 TIMES. Chris was a roadie for Dirty Laces when they supported Pete Doherty at The Ritz and snapped the lead guitarists string 5 minutes before they went on, Michael once shared a hot tub with Brian May.  Arthur once won a dancing competition on a ferry. Weird! James only wears velcro trainers that light up when he click his heels. Really weird.

What makes you stand out as a band?

Our live performance. We try and keep people guessing.

Right now, what’s pissing you off the most?

Man City being banned from the Champions League. What’s that all about?

I hear you have a new single brewing, what can you tell us about it?

Round the Town I was Born we feel shows a softer more emotional side to our music. A proper storyline in it too. Coming out on the 4th of April. Stream it.

What’s coming up in 2020 for the band?

Hopefully a shed load of sell-out headline gigs and 7 figure bank accounts. Really we would love to do some gigs outside of manchester and further outside the north-west in places like London or Glasgow.
