Hiya (Alias), thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today. Grab a brew and take a seat.
What was life like for you before you got into music? Before getting into music my life lacked inspiration it lacked purpose but I live an average life just like other people I go to work earn a living but it felt boring and very mundane. I am one who constantly seeks change and renewal so in a way before music there was no to little motion or maybe I wasn’t tapped in my divine right which is to be everything I need to be.
What’s the live music scene like in (Manchester) right now?
Anyone we should be looking out for (bar you, of course)? Erm from Manchester we already know who the top dogs are so we don’t need to mention them so on that note I’ll be biased and I’ll mention over notable artist who are think are bold and worthy of recognition we have Energyboy who’s tenacious and crafty and then we have ujimo who’s a lyrical genius and a master of flows.
It seems like being a social media curator has become added to the many jobs of a musician, how do you feel about this? Social media is a tool I use to reach people to connect with those who think and act a like for me yes I just want to focus on music and not really bother with social media but it’s also part of being a creator which is what a musician is it’s a form of magic so as long as I am creating I am content.
How do you manage engagement on your socials?
Being a new artist has its ups and downs one being I have to build a strong and loyal fan base which isn’t something that is easily achieved. It takes time and energy just like most things so I try to show up everyday by playing my part putting my music out there staying in the public eye and whoever likes the music likes the music.
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
To be honest I haven’t really come to a conclusion on the music industries but one thing I know for certain is it’s all about the numbers the talent doesn’t really matter as much as the attention you can garnish. Music to me was supposed to be about passion and love but like all things it’s turned into a business for survival and control
Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry? Realistically I wouldn’t even count myself as being in the music industry but without betraying my own talent I would say I am an independent artist who wants to be acknowledged by simple playing my part which is to make music for people and release it
Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
It’s not an easy job building something for yourself you can have all the dreams you want but they mean nothing if you’re not willing to build a foundation first and that means showing out everyday whether you have help or no help you’re only here to save yourself no one else will do your job for you so you must have the right mentality and that goes with having the right people beside you that means watching what you input into yourself you have to be very precise and coordinated.
What was your best experience on stage?
Never had the opportunity to be on stage but it is something I dream about everyday
What was your worst experience on stage?
Never had the opportunity to be on stage but it is something I dream about everyday
Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.
Most people see me as they the toe of person who’s figured out life but the truth is I learn through making mistakes so the more mistakes I make the more I am able to learn and growth individually and spiritually
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it? Yes I have new music it’s electric as it thunderous it’s a message of what’s to come from myself it’s a piece of art which is as tenacious as it is raw. I aim to break boundaries by creating music I truly resonate with whether it’s shunned or liked I have to remain true to my soul.
What was the recording process like?
Whenever I am recording I can feel at home and just let my soul shine the recording process enables me to critique my own art and make any suitable change I see fit to make plus I really love having a finished product I can take home with me just to listen to it and appreciate what I’ve made.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes? I’m a very focused man so when I write music I have to make sure that I am alone so I am not to be disturbed I like to take my time when writing music I can sit in my room or find a nice park with some greenery and I get lost in the beat I let the thoughts arise and I don’t move a muscle until I’ve wrote the full song and then I’ll make small edits until I am fully satisfied
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
Not really I don’t like to focus on the past when something is done sure you can be a perfectionist and make all the edits and changes but inevitably you have to say this is great enough release it and move on to the next project
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
I aspire to inspire through letting my soul shine and be free from chains.
