RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW AMERICAN ARTIST AUDRI

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

Music has always been an important facet of my life. I’ve been writing music since I was in elementary school. I think I’ve always known that music was my thing.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

I’m pretty new to this industry and don’t yet have a comfortable position within it. But I’m ready for what’s coming! I learn a ton every year, so I’m excited to see where I’ll be next year!

What’s the biggest thing you have learned from someone else in the industry?

No one will care about your music until they think other people care about your music.

What makes you stand out as an artist?

People usually tell me they like my storytelling. The story is the most fun aspect of my music, I think. I rarely write about myself. The emotions behind the story are very human/relatable, but the stories all have their own unique protagonists.

I hear you have a new music, what can you tell us about it.

This EP is more rock-focused than my previous releases. It’s my favorite release yet in terms of production value and songwriting.

What was the recording process like?

It’s a long process, but rewarding. This release took an extended amount of time due to a number of roadblocks. I originally wanted this EP out in the spring, but because of the recording issues, it’ll be released in the fall. The recording/music process often involves delays, so you need to be prepared to problem-solve.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

Trusting my gut. There were a few issues while recording, but I told myself I was being too critical. I decided later in the process to go back and re-record. From now on, I’ll trust my instincts and fix something immediately when I think it feels wrong.
