RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW AMERICAN ARTIST TRIPLE M

Hiya mate thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

Music chose me just as much as I chose it. It was my first love. I’ve always had a passion for entertaining and creating.

Introduce to you and your musical history?

My name is Triple M. I’m a multi-genre music producer, writer, artist, and creator. I’m currently releasing instrumental singles followed by a compilation early next year.

The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in, How do you feel you are doing?

Slow motion is better than no motion, but as long as I’m creating, I’m in a good place. I’d like to continue to grow my fan base and make music people enjoy.

We set up RGM USA and many other countries in the world to share music with America and the UK, good idea?

Sharing is caring. Great idea, the more exposure for the music, the better.

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?

I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but google Denver International Airport for fun. Go, Colorado!

Let’s share the love, what bands are doing really well in your City?

Speaking of Colorado, I enjoy CC Wells, she has such a smooth dynamic voice. I’ve spent a lot of time working in Los Angeles and some artists I loved out there were Rina Town, Aaron Marco, and John Michael. You can find all of them on Spotify and Apple Music.

What advice would you give other artists starting out?

Never stop learning, that’s half the fun. Enjoy the moment when they happen and grind to be the best version of yourself.

Did you buy anything you don’t need during the pandemic?

You could say synthesizers and drum machines… but I love them all and it’s always fun adding new sonic characters to your music.

What was the worst experience on stage?

I lost my voice halfway through a set. In retrospect, I think we over-rehearsed, had a longer-than-needed set and I probably didn’t warm up my throat as I should have. Overall, I think the show was successful, but my voice was shot in the last 45 minutes and I pushed through the best I could. It’s unfortunate, you never want to leave your audience with anything less than the best.

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

Close friends know, but I’m an avid pro-wrestling fan.

If you had to describe your band/music to an alien how would you describe it?

To an alien? This is music made for you, my friend. May it make us see eye to eye and understand one another.

What makes you stand out as a band/artist?

I think the sonic value that my music brings. It’s an individual sound and a reflection of experiences. I’m not trying to be anyone or anything else than Triple M.

I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it.

‘Nuance of a Delicate Heart’ was released on 10/13 and it’s an energetic story of emotion and turbulence. ‘What If You Fly’ came out on 9/23 and is a story of courage and joy. My next single, ‘Midnight Coffee’ comes out 10/28 and will bring you back to the essence of boom bap.

Talk me through the thought process of the new tune/s.

These instrumentals serve the goal of establishing myself as a producer and engineer. The writing, the instruments, the samples, the composition, mixing… everything on these are me. I love to work with other artists, but I had stories without the need for words that I wanted to share with the world.

What was the recording process like?

Each song is different and requires different processes. Most of my tracks start either with a melody or the drum and then I build from there. There’s no set way I do things creatively vs. when I mix and engineer. With that, I follow techniques and processes that have proven successful in the past.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

I think it was to make music enjoyable without a vocalist. I drew a lot of influence on this project from modal jazz. It was important to let the instrument tell the story instead of the individual.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

Why look back? Learn from the process and apply it forward.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Feel free to check out my website and store. There is more music to listen to there as well. You can follow me on Instagram at official Triple M and please check out my music on Spotify and Apple Music. If you like it, share it, save it and add it to your playlist!
