RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW AMERICAN ARTIST ZENODRO

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

When I was a kid and I first listened to Eminem I knew I loved rap music.  But I knew I wanted to do take it all the way about two years ago.  I loved making music and making something people enjoy.

Introduce us to you and your musical history.

So my name is Zenodro, and I started making music only a few years ago.  Since then I have been improving and dropping a single every few weeks.

The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in, How do you feel you are doing?

I am just at the beginning of this journey and I am enjoying it so far.  I’ve been doing well, and I know that as I release more music, I will do better.  I am continuously improving and I know if I keep at It I will become the best I can be.

We set up RGM USA and many other countries in the world to share music with America and the UK, good idea?

I think that would be a great idea.

Do you sign up for any conspiracy theories?

Not any ones off the top of my head.

Let’s share the love, what bands are doing really well in your Town / City?

There’s this new rapper Samuel Vincent that I am really excited about.  He’s really about the lyrical part of rap and knows he’s going to make big things happen.

What advice would you give other artists starting out?

Keep writing.  80% of what you write is going to be terrible.  But the more you write, the better you’re going to get.  Also, don’t be afraid to get constructive criticism to help you.  From both casual listeners, as well as professionals.  Although casual listeners may not have the technical know-how about music, they can still provide pretty good advice.

Did you buy anything you don’t need during the pandemic?

A lot of beer since all the bars were closed.

What was the worst experience on stage?

When I forgot my lyrics.  That really sucks.  But I’ve learned from my experience and practice and practice.  Also, a good way to get over that is to do some open mics during the week to practice the new material.

Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.

I have been doing Muay Thai for about a year and jiu-jitsu for a few months.

If you had to describe your band/music to an alien how would you describe it?

I would describe it as eclectic or worldly.  I try to take influences from other types of music so you could definitely hear it in my music.

What makes you stand out as an artist?

I think my ability to be able to use a melodic flow while at the same time being lyrical is something that is helping me stand out.

I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it.

So my new tune ‘Who Ya Know’ Produced by Epik the Dawn, is a little different from my last tune.  I was starting to incorporate a little more lyrical substance into this song.  I also have a new song “Ven Aqui” coming in December!

Talk me through the thought process of the new tune/s.

I try to start off by working on the melody and rhythm of my lyrics.  After that, I write to the beat using that melody.  I will then rewrite the lyrics if I don’t feel that their up to par.  Once I think they’re ready to go, I go into the studio and record the track.

What was the recording process like?

I record my music at the Dead Zone Studio ran by Sir Nicolas.  I try to record my tracks in a few takes, and then get onto the mixing process after all the recordings for my tracks are done.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

Being able to implement a catchy melodic tune while not sacrificing any lyrical substance from the track.  That’s something I’m constantly improving on.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

I’ve thought about it, especially since I’m improving, however, I, was content with the music when I first decided to put it out, so I will not change anything going forward.  Maybe a remix though with other featured acts.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read this.  I hope you continue to support me throughout this journey.  Keep on the lookout for future pre-saves of singles.  I will be doing merchandise giveaways!  I am also releasing another track in December featuring another artist, Zano!
