What made you decide to start the band?
I suffer from insomnia and was sneaking up when everyone was asleep to play around with Garage Band and with an electric drum kit we had at the time because I could put headphones on. I thought no one knew what I was doing but then one evening Theo joined me . . .
Introduce us to your musical history?
Our musical history is evolution through experimentation and has been recorded and published for the world to hear. Pretty neat.
Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?
Everything is a lie, but there is truth in everything.
What was the most fun you have had on stage?
I have stage fright, so the most fun I have had performing was in my basement alone. Theo on the other hand enjoys it and is a great showman.
That said I think we both enjoyed the full production Live Stream we did in April of 2021. It was a lot of fun with a great group of people.
What was the worst experience on stage?
Did I mention that I have stage fright?
Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about?
Theo and I married after having only met each other 4 times in person. The 4th time was getting married.
If you had to describe your band/music to an alien how would you describe it?
I have a hard enough time describing our music to humans. We don’t fit neatly into any boxes!
Experimental Indie Pop? Cerebral melancholia washed in ethereal guitar?
What makes you stand out as a band/artist?
We are being our honest selves and having fun breaking down and examining our personal conformities through the experimental musical process.
Right now, what’s pissing you off the most?
War
What’s your favourite song to play live and why?
“Red Shoes”, it’s a moody little number that makes me feel like I’m in some film noir.
I hear you have a new single, what can you tell us about it? What was the thought process of the single?
Our new single, “War” is a protest song, out on March 21st, 2022.
It was written in 2021 about the many ongoing US military conflicts around the world and unfortunately is even more poignant because of current events in Ukraine.
What was the recording process like?
We collaborated with Alex Almgren of Freshly Baked Studios and we all spent a weekend at the Virtue & Vice Studio in Williamsburg, NY recording. We recorded a total of three songs, played a little pool, and then drove 12 hours non-stop back to West Michigan.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the single?
Letting go and allowing the ideas of others to bloom in and out of the original concept.
What are your plans for the year ahead?
We are busy. We have a lot of new music coming out over the next year. Two more singles from our NY session and a handful we are recording right now in Grand Rapids at Local Legend Studios where we did “Breath(e)”. We are working on music videos, some collaborations, and maybe even some UK show dates.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Peace, Love, & Freedom! xx
