RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW AMERICAN RAPPER V OF 40M

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

The Creator.

Introduce us to you and your musical history.

We are the M’s, 40M aka Forty Million Strong. Revolutionaries of the Melanites, better known as “Black” people. They call me V, V of 40M. We’ve dropped “No Church on Sunday”, “Inferno”, “Welcome”, “Way Back” and now – “PWR”. Revolutionary s*** only, you feel me. Extra lit on the 4.

The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in, How do you feel you are doing?

It’s crazy but it’s a process and we trust it. Despite the fact that we’re not in it for the same reasons as the vast majority, the same ropes, hoops, etc are still in play for us as they are for all Black rappers/artists. We the M’s though, heavy on the motion you know.

How have your songwriting skills developed over time?

Of course and if the Creator allows it and I am fortunate enough – they’ll be even greater.

I’m seeing a lot of debate about women not feeling safe at music gigs, any thoughts on what we need to do to help?

Once we get our people on better timing it’ll be a lot easier for us to party and parlay amongst each other in any setting. Our women are our Queens. Mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and niece. As far as we’re concerned they should always be appreciated, loved, and protected logically. The trick is to get the world to see it that way, more specifically our people.

As you develop as an artist and develop using socials what ways do you get new ears on your music? Any tips?

Whatever your budget, shoot for effectiveness. Do your research and try to at least have a basis of a plan. As far as socials – f*** Meta, the Meta-Verse, “Meta-Curse”, etc. They’re a part of the problem so at best use social media but don’t let it use you, it’s a tool.

Tell us Two truths and a lie about you.

I descended from the earliest migrants of the “Americas” from Alkebulan (Africa). I descended from migrants from Ethiopia. I am white.

What’s your thought on Spotify’s monopoly on the music industry?

Mixed feelings really. It’s cool because it helps to put more control into the hands of the artist and less in the hands of the “machine”. The problem is if the apps control the machine then Spotify is a part of the problem

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?

Never felt the phrase “conspiracy theory” for real. Something could be absolute truth or fact but if it’s labeled a conspiracy it loses credibility and relevancy. The motherf***ers running the system, etc masters at using s*** like that to hide things in plain sight. So many bulls*** info that you can’t tell what’s true or not.

Did you buy anything you don’t need during the pandemic?

Yeah, more guns but we can use always them lol.

What was the worst experience on stage?

Have yet to have any bad experiences for real.

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

That the M’s are a real revolutionary movement pushing for Black Independence, not no d*** rappers.

What makes you stand out as an artist?

Energy you feel me, the message too.

I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it.

We just dropped “PWR” featuring Hippie G and 40M Tye, produced by Arab Mxfia. Went crazy with the bulls, heavy on the 4. Hippie G, that’s my motherf***ing guy. Make sure ya’ll hit him up on all socials, don’t forget the name – Hippie G! My guy got mad music, content, etc on top of rocking with the M’s on YouTube, TikTok, and everything else. 40M T-YE, that’s the bro for real – Big M s***. He on the way too in a major way, make sure y’all search him up and show some love – Tye Cobb on the socials I believe.

Talk me through the thought process of the new tune/s.

Just let the Creator, the ancestors, and the beat do their thing. I just add a lil’ sauce and put it on wax you know.

What was the recording process like?

We recorded it at Media Majorz, ran by my man Caleb Kelly. S*** was a movie for real, major Black power wave. Big energy, big henny, Big M s***.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

Do not give away all the sauce too early. As Weezy said, let the beat build b****!

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

A few things here or there, true perfectionists at work lol.

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Yeah, one time for the Creator, the Universe, and the Ancestors who came before us. Two times for my kids, love y’all with every atom in this body – hi mom! Three times for those connected in personal love – Thrilla, my sisters, cousins, neices, Babe, etc. Anyone I forgot to mention, y’all already know it’s love. And the four, that’s us and y’all already know the timing – 40! Aaron aka A, Tim, Willie whatup! Hif whatup! Lil’ squeeze whatup! If you “Black”, tap in on all socials – @vof40m. We got things to do. If not, f*** with us anyway! We lit, the 4 way though!
