Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.
What made you decide to start the band / become a soloist?
I have several unreleased original songs and would love to share them to the world, have decided not to keep them to myself for too long. On that point, I’ve tried to learn about music production and produce my original songs and become a soloist.
Introduce us to you and your musical history?
My name is Michelle Limanjae, I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, and currently based in Melbourne, Australia. I’ve been singing all my life! It’s my 1st passion I’ve ever discovered on my own even though sometimes I lost my confidence and always tried to get up again. Then I fell in love with the guitar and its sound which made me more keen to learn.
What one question you’re sick of being asked when interviewed?
No, ask me more question!
What was the most fun you have had on stage?
When the crowd could sing out loud together!
What was the worst experience on stage?
The most often thing happens on stage, forgetting lyrics and standstill like a statue.
Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about?
I often add some lemon squeeze on anything that I consume!
If you had to describe your music to an alien how would you describe it?
A girl, human-like, living on earth, singing & harmonising nonsense.
What makes you stand out as an artist?
Maybe… My awkwardness? And I tend to incorporate multiple genres in my sound too sometimes.
Right now, what’s pissing you off the most?
Writer’s block! And thinking about how should I take something further.
What’s your favourite song to play live and why?
For now, I’d say this one, Pluviophile Song. I love the dynamic and rhythm, it would be fun to play this in front of the crowd and would love to see them dancing along with it! ☺
I hear you have a new single what can you tell us about it?
Pluviophile Song is a feel-good vibe track that unveils the state of joy and peacefulness during rainy days. Rain tends to be depicted as gloomy and melancholy kind of mood, but I try to express my feeling of excitement as a rain-lover with a lively & quirky style of music arrangement.
Talk me through the thought process of the single?
It’s all started when I wrote few random lines on a cold rainy afternoon then got very excited to finish the song. The process was pretty smooth and quick compared to my 1st track, it took around 3 months to finalise all the lyrics, a well-done composition and production.
What was the recording process like?
All took place in my humble home, nothing fancy. I did all those guitar, bass & vocal tracking then experimenting with the arrangement & composition afterwards. Also Nanda came up with some bass-line ideas at the end of the song then we incorporated into it. Thanks to Nanda Febriyan!
What are your plans for the year ahead?
Will be able to collaborate with many talented musicians out there and looking forward to releasing EPs & Album hopefully soon! ☺
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Please do whatever you wanna do! Don’t limit yourself just because worrying too much about public opinion towards you. Do whatever makes you happy ☺
