AYE NIZZY

RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW AYE NIZZY WHAT HAPPENED?

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

Music has been embedded in me from birth, there was always music playing in my house growing up so it’s a part of me, naturally.

Introduce us to you all and your musical history.

Aye Nizzy, also known as A9, Big Trend Setta, Big Method Leaker! one of Nottingham’s finest.

What was life like for you before music?

I can’t tell you about life before music, cause its all I know.. the earliest documented evidence I have of me writing lyrics, I was 8 years old and it was a song about anti racism called ‘I Black, You White’.

What was the first song you heard that steered you into a music path?

Whether it was my dad playing reggae; artists such as Luciano, Garnett Silk, Bob Marley and Burning Spear; or my mum playing R&B and Soul artists like Michael Jackson, Barry White, Marvin Gaye, l Luther Vandross etc the list goes on, I couldn’t tell you.. too many bangers, music has always inspired me.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

Underrated? NO! just under exposed!.. and that’s the best way to put it. With industry backing I would be one of the biggest artists in Europe. My talent and work ethic is undeniable.

What’s the biggest thing you have learned from someone else in the industry?

Something that was said to me by Rich Castillo, “do you want to be a jack of all trades and a master of none?”. That taught me that if you want to be in the industry, you must know who you are as an artist in order to be marketable and sold as a product because it’s the music business at the end of the day.

Tell us two truths and a lie about you.

I went to prison for affray in 2017.

I went to the House of Commons as part of the Youth Council in 2006.

I have a son who was born in 2015.

If you could wish for one thing to aid your career what would it be?

Cash money babyyyy.

Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture? Discuss….

I don’t believe in cancel culture.. God sees all. As long as I treat people good, uphold a high moral standard and do good, then I don’t need to worry about anybody misjudging me. I know who I am as a person, I know the good I put into the world and the people I continue to help. More love less hate.

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If not why not?

I’m a realist not a conspiracy theorist.

What was the worst experience on stage?

Its got to be the usual pre-stage jitters and anxiety, but the beauty of all of that is that it disperses the moment you run out onto that stage in your element!

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

I love creative direction and have directed/done treatments for 90% of all my music videos.

What are the next steps you plan to take as a band to reach the next level?

Keep my foot on their necks, keep applying that pressure! The grind don’t stop!

Whats your thoughts on Elon Musks contribution to the world?

Elon’s an alien, definitely a unique individual, I believe it’s difficult to say what we would do more or less of if we had that type of power because we’re not in that position.

From what I’ve seen I think he’s charitable and has created job opportunities for many people. I believe he’s aided in creating a healthier environment by producing electric vehicles and I don’t ever really see him using his position or power to spew hate or create division. I think it’s been positive more than negative, that’s a very intelligent man.

I hear you have a new music, what can you tell us about it.

Leak the Method.. OUT NOW! An absolute banger, this is new age grime, sounds like nothing other than itself. Authentic and northentic.. bonafide hit.

What was the recording process like?

Amazing, made with great energy, Frost produced the instrumental, we cooked up the beat and recorded the song in the same session, proper energies!!

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

Pushing the boundaries and constantly evolving, finding new pockets and being lyrical whilst still keeping the grittiness.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

The remixes are en route, look out for the ‘Leak the method’ EP featuring some crazy remixes.
