What made you decide to start the band / become a soloist?

I grew up in a household full of musicians and singers. I also grew up in the church which definitely helped mold my musicality and hone my skills at a young age. Growing up around these influences allowed me to appreciate music from various perspectives and I still take inspiration from that today.

Introduce us you and your musical history?

My family and religious beliefs growing up were a very crucial part of my musical upbringing. My whole family is filled with musicians, singers and creatives and growing up around that environment heavily helped create the sound and artist I am today. Growing up in the church definitely influenced my sound and vocals. I still use all the influence I’ve gotten from both to this day.

What’s one question you’re sick of being asked when interviewed?

I don’t think I’ve been interviewed enough to answer this question LOL. I will say, maybe just the repetitive questions like “why are you doing music” etc.

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?

Yeah, I do, especially conspiracies within history!

Did you buy anything you don’t need in the pandemic?

Too many clothes and too many shoes LOL.

What useless party trick do you have?

I can pop my hip out of the socket.

What was the most fun you have had on stage?

I actually haven’t had the opportunity to be on stage yet, but I can’t wait for the opportunities that I do have to perform coming up!

What was the worst experience on stage?

I actually haven’t had the opportunity to be on stage yet, but I can’t wait for the opportunities that I do have to perform coming up!

Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about?

I’m easily frightened and I’m shy 🙂

If you had to describe your band/music to an alien how would you describe it?

A combination of sounds from various universes.

What makes you stand out as a band/artist?

I think I sound vocal. I really sing I can give you a nice belt, and some runs and I definitely take pride in incorporating that into my music.

Right now, what’s pissing you off the most?

I’m really hungry. #starvingartist

What’s your favourite song to play live and why?

It will definitely be Febreeze because of how high energy it is.

I hear you have a new single/album/ep, what can you tell us about it?

It’s about the growing pains of growing up; becoming an adult, navigating relationships and navigating love while experiencing the world for the first time.

Talk me through the thought process of the single/album/ep?

I took inspiration from one of my favourite film the Truman show. The film takes the viewer through Truman’s manufactured life. In the same way, the album is a representation of what I thought was reality for me but was really the opposite.

What was the recording process like?

Long weekend nights! I record a lot of background vocals and love to vocal layer like crazy. So it definitely takes me longer than most to record my music. Overall it’s a fun process but it does get physically taxing considering how much goes into the recording process.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the single/album/ep?

The biggest learning curve for me was learning how to write effectively and efficiently at the same time. It took dedication and work but it started to come easier as time went by.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

I definitely think there are things that I want to change (like all things) but I believe in things being perfectly imperfect. Sometimes the little problems I’ll have with stuff actually end up being the favourite part to others. I try to keep an open mind because of that.

What are your plans for the year ahead?

I have so much planned career-wise, from performances to opening for some amazing artists! I’m so excited and just grateful for the opportunities God has blessed me with in such a short period of time!

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Honestly, keep chasing your dreams. If you stop now you might not get your blessing that was meant for tomorrow. I believe in continuing through the storm. There are going to be so many setbacks, so many reasons as to why you feel like you can’t do it and so many reasons to quit. Regardless, you have to push yourself. There’s someone who is going to need the future version of you. So please, for me, never stop. You won’t regret it!
