RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW CANADIAN ARTIST NICK MINTENKO

Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

I decided to play music when I was in high school. I spent all day practicing and thought it would be great if I could do it every day for the rest of my life.

Introduce us to you / all to the members and your musical history.

This is a solo project, but I collaborated with my mentor Marc Atkinson, he played a lot of instruments on the track, and he produced it.

What’s one question you’re sick of being asked when interviewed?

No, they’re all good questions!

We set up RGM USA and many other countries including RGM CANADA to share music with different countries and the UK, good idea?

I don’t see why not, music is universal, you might as well reach out.

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?

Ha ha ha, No. I used to, but the more I think about it I just cant trust a human to keep a secret, even a human I don’t trust.

What useless party trick do you have?

I can open a bottle of beer on almost anything. It’s useless because I don’t even drink beer.

What was the most fun you have had on stage?

Definitely any time I’m creating and making a collaborative musical space with my friends on stage and in the audience.

What was the worst experience on stage?

FEEDBACK.

Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.

I’m quite into the fantasy genre.

What makes you stand out as a band/artist?

Fun lyricism and song arrangement I think. I also Love to perform, and I feel most comfortable when I’m up there having fun.

I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it?

Vagabond is my new single, it’s a song about holding on to summer and freedom, or just plainly going to California. It’s a great uplifting track, summer vibes only.

Talk me through the thought process of the single/album/ep?

I usually pluck ideas out of the air based on how I’m feeling, and I meditate on them for awhile until a song forms. Then I go through months of edits and rewrites. Voila, a song is born.

What was the recording process like?

Really great. I recorded on Hornby Island in BC with my friend and mentor Marc Atkinson.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the single/album/ep?

Just the work involved that has nothing to do with music.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

Na, It’s perfect in my eyes.

What are your plans for the year ahead?

I’m building a house, and getting married! It’ll be a big year.
