What was life like for you before you got into music?
I’ve been playing music all my life! My first professional gig was aged 15 and by the time I graduated from music conservatoire I was full-time freelancing!
It seems like being a social media curator has become added to the many jobs of a musician, how do you feel about this?
That’s so true – it’s a powerful tool though. I had some coaching on how best to use it when I released an EP a couple of years back and getting help from people who know it inside out and back to front is so valuable!
How do you manage engagement on your socials?
It’s like an extra full-time job! But it’s great having a regular loyal fan base.
What’s your view on the Music industry today?
Luckily, as a session musician, I work in all genres, studios, west end shows, pop tours, classical concerts, the lot. And it’s becoming more and more that a portfolio career and being as versatile as possible is the way to survive. Thankfully I just naturally did that from the start.
Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?
I only started writing and releasing my own music a couple of years back. It’s a bit of a side hustle and a creative outlet which I really love doing. It’s just something I do in my spare time, but it’s great that people listen to it! What a bonus!
What was your best experience on stage?
Probably touring with Sting – you could hear a pin drop. What a musician he is!
I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?
I Want You To Stay is a one-off single release that’s hopefully a song that people will add to their summer playlists! I’d like to think it’s quite a banger!
What was the recording process like?
A lot of fun! You’ve got me on vocals, trombone and Flugabone!
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
There’s a banging remix on the way too! (I think that might be a secret, so it’s exclusive news for RGM readers!)
