Hiya Darling Gails thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.

Introduce us to you all and your musical history.

Hi, we are the Darling Gails, your new favourite hyperpop duo. Based in the USA and Puerto Rico respectively, we met on social media and were friends for years before we ever made music together. Bella is the musical mastermind and production extraordinaire. Jason takes over the Kris Jenner momager role and brings forth some of the duo’s most eccentric, unconventional musical concepts.

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

Bella: For me, it started with making mashups of songs I liked, as soon as I started recognizing what songs could be blended, it really opened up my mind to original content and now I’m here!

Jason: I never really decided, I just did it for fun and now I can’t make it stop.

What’s the live music scene like in your city right now?

Sometimes we like to sing karaoke at the bar.

I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?

Bella: I would answer this longer if I could, but I just feel like I’ve realized you have to make connections and be able to market yourself. Support indie artists! I’ve found some of my favorite artists in the deepest corners of the internet.

Jason: Every single day is a struggle. Sometimes you have to choose between cyberbullying your competition or queening out with them. Ugh, it’s so tough!

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

You know when you go to the movies and only the front row is available? Yeah.

Tell us Two truths and a lie about you.

We have explored each other’s bodies.

We had a song played on Swedish Top 40 Pop radio.

An initial idea for our debut album’s title was ‘Katy Perry Psych Ward Doll’.

Do you ever worry about people taking things the wrong way or cancel culture? Discuss….

We love canceling and hope it continues to happen more and more!

Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories? If not why not?

Bella: Um, I don’t think this question is best answered by me, but be prepared.

Jason: The earth is flat.

What was your best experience on stage?

Performing at my 5th-grade recital.

What was your worst experience on stage?

Not applicable, we are pretty good.

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

We have never met in person and every song of ours was made long distance. For our first album, we were even on different continents.

What are the next steps you plan to take as a band to reach the next level?

After our album ‘Gunk’ releases, we’re aiming to create unique, fun virtual experiences to engage with our fans directly. Especially through Roblox.

I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it.

Expect the unexpected. The songs will speak for themselves and also punch you in the face.

What was the recording process like?

Our Wi-Fi bills have gone up tremendously as a result of the constant back-and-forth file sharing.

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

We both like to make sure our music is either silly or scary, but we had a lot of emotional moments on this new project, so we both found it a little difficult to be raw!

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

It’s perfect and you’ll agree with us when you hear it. #NoRegrets

Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?

Life is surreal, don’t let it get to you.
