Hiya DJ Rauny thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.
What made you decide that music is a thing for you?
Music has always been my passion since I was 16 I have been making mashups, and bootlegs and dabbled in corporate gigs, club gigs and more!
Introduce us to you all and your musical history.
I used to be a prominent Deejay playing at gigs until my early twenties where I gave up clubs and went deep into production, finally after a decade I have started releasing my music and ideas. I make Chill house, stutter house, tech house and electro-house tracks usually in English with a heavy influence from South East Asia.
What’s the live music scene like in Singapore right now? Anyone we should be looking out for (Bar you of course)
I am currently in Singapore where we get a plethora of great artists! Too many to name!
I’ve seen a lot of people struggling for support recently online. What’s your view on the industry?
The industry is cut-throat, unfortunately streams and YouTube views are not enough. I hope the industry starts putting independent artists on the radar quite often that is never the case.
Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?
I am currently in the backseat since I don’t push my craft often, hopefully, I get more gigs to push my craft to more people around the world.
Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.
I am a one-man show but I am deeply inspired by Wax Motif as an artist, his sounds, his DJ sets and everything is pristine.
What are the next steps you plan to take as a band to reach the next level?
The next step is to get a dedicated listenership and make an album dedicated to my love for house music.
What was the recording process like?
This song took 6 months to create, there were many versions before I settled on a chill-pop, electro styled stutter house song.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
Simple is often times better.
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
Maybe create an extended version and a club dub.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
I want to release a track every month for my delightful listeners, the question is as an independent artist do people care?
