FRANKY FUGAZI

RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW FRANKY FUGAZI

Hiya Franky fugazi thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today. Grab a brew and take a seat.

What was life like for you before you got into music?

Before ???? Theres never been a before music for me…. even the concept of that makes me chuckle a bit.
Musics in my blood…..its always been there…..THANK GOD!

What’s the live music scene like in the Netherlands right now? Anyone we should be looking out for?

Well, I live around the Amsterdam area so I can only speak for that but I can say for sure that the live music seen is very much alive and kicking…It’s a great place to be an independent artist.

Well, look out for, if you ever get the chance to see zZz live you should go at all costs…..that create some some kind of mad chemistry of sound…….Theres nothing else like it.

It seems like being a social media curator has become added to the many jobs of a musician, how do you feel about this?

Its vital these days innit?….I didn’t have any socials except Facebook until recently…..Then I released my debut track Feloncholy.

Now I have them all! ….Not only that but I manage to post something on most of them daily, Im becoming like a well oiled machine social mediawise these days

How do you manage engagement on your socials?

Manage engagment? I dont even know what that means man.

What’s your view on the Music industry today?

Well im only just dippin my toe in so I cant really say…..One thing I have noticed so far though is……theres no money in it.

Where do you feel you currently sit within the music industry?

On the outside looking in…..Im an independent artist doing it all by myself except producing the record and im pretty proud of that. I like to be the underdog…….However in saying that as an independent artist you live in hope that one day the door to the music industry will open and they will invite you in. paradox eh ?

Whats the biggest thing you have learned recently as you progress with your music?

Everything! Until last year I could write songs and perform them. That was it. Once me and Buddy fly (The producer) Got togehter and decided to make the record I had to learn an endless list of things and it never ends! ha ha….In short I didnt have a clue!!……Ive learnt so much Im a different animal these days.

What was your best experience on stage?

All of them….its always a pleasure.

What was your worst experience on stage?

Can’t say Ive had one…..Messed up my lines in the school choir once…that was a drama…apart from that pretty solid.

I hear you have new music. What can you tell us about it?

Yes New music! I thought youd never ask!?!?! Yeah Rebel song man….CHECK IT OUT! ha ha…..Its a little more laid back than my previous releases Its a got bluegrass roots feel to it, The lyrics encourage the listener to think for themselves…hence Rebel song.

Once again the cigar box guitar takes centre stage but it has a nice soft pleasent arrangment around it……Hard to explain you gotta hear it.

What was the recording process like?

Recording process was a pleasure as always. Im lucky enough to have a great producer in Buddy fly (Cave Studios) We make a great team. We manage to be very productive whilst having a lot fun. What else could you ask for?

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

None really tbh……I dont think about writing songs….its not something I do.
I just mess about with my various instruments and things come to me….the more I do it the more it happens…..Im afrad to think or learn about it as im afraid ill loose that ability I have.
Dont wanna rock the boat ya know.

Would you change anything now it’s finished?

Well the albums not completely finished that coming out early 2026 but So far no…….The first 3 singles i have been completely satisfied with before releasing.

Me and Buddy (The producer) have put our heart and souls into making this record, We love it and we hope some people out there will too.
