RGM INTRODUCING – WE INTERVIEW GERMAN ARTIST FLEANGER

What made you decide that music is a thing for you?

As a child I always felt a love for music, in my parents’ house there was always music in the background, but the events that I remember more that caused my deep connection to music are the trips on Friday afternoons with my father and music from the eighties in the background

Introduce us to you and your musical history.

While growing up, I had trouble connecting with others my age,  and I started to use art as a way to express myself, and escape my troubles. First with drawing, graffiti, and then piano, which led me to writing music. Eventually, I wanted to combine all of my creativity, and so became a producer.

Name me your 3 favourite Albums.

  • Violator (Depeche Mode)
  • The Dark Side Of The Moon (Pink Floyd)
  • Yes (Pet Shop Boys)

What was the first song you heard that steered you into a music path?

If I look back I don’t think there is a specific song that got me into the music industry but if I look at a song that gives and in the past inspired me it has to be “enjoy the silence” by depeche mode

The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in. How do you feel you are doing?

I agree with that. The music industry is an industry that is very difficult to break into and it is very difficult to stand out in it. I faced and still face this desire to have my music known more but at the end of the day it is difficult for me because it comes at the price of my art. I can say that there were people along the way who welcomed me with open arms and there were also people who kicked my ass.

As you develop as an artist and develop using socials, what ways do you get new ears on your music? Any tips?

I think it just happens because today in the world there are so many ways to get into the industry and Instagram is a great example of that. My tip is Make as much music as you can and make each track the best you can and it will reach the right ears in the end.

What’s your thought on Spotify’s monopoly on the music industry?

I personally really like the app, I really like the arrangement of artists and their convenience and support, I personally also listen and regularly use Spotify for the music I listen to

Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about.

I think people would be surprised to learn that I’m only 21, even though I look older

What makes you stand out as an artist?

I think with me it’s the inspo feeling that I manage to put in every piece of mine and its expression through the exciting chords and melodies that I manage to create

I hear you have new music, what can you tell us about it?

The truth is that last Friday I just released to the world my first track for 2023 called “better” on a label from the UK that I really appreciate. This track is exactly half an hour away by train from Berlin to a town called Potsdam and I am very proud of it.

What was the recording process like?

Cappuccino, a glass of water and a phone on flight mode

What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?

I think it was somewhere during high school because of a lot of mental stress and a poor mental state I just forced myself to study more, among other things it was also learning music theory

Would you change anything now that it’s finished?

Nothing!
