Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.
What made you decide to become a soloist?
During the pandemic I started writing songs straight away, I had the need to express what I had inside and so from a “simple” bassist I also became a songwriter.
Introduce us to you and your musical history?
My Name is Fabio Gallozzi, and I started playing bass early and after a few months I was already playing around clubs. In Naples (Italy) we had a band called “Punto.Com” and we have come a long way together. In 2008 I moved to Milan and started a new life with new bands, up to writing my own songs under “Weiners” name. We must always take a step forward, every day!
What’s one question you’re sick of being asked when interviewed?
Why does your guitar only have 4 strings ?;) Just kidding! There are no boring or stupid questions, I am here to answer all the time!
Do you sign up to any conspiracy theories?
Absolutely no!
Did you buy anything you don’t need in the pandemic?
No, I bought my wonderful Sadowsky 5 strings made in Germany that I am in love with!
What was the most fun you have had on stage?
I have always enjoyed all the concerts. I don’t have a particular anecdote, but every time I go on stage, a mix of adrenaline, peace and well-being assails me, it’s beautiful!
What was the worst experience on stage?
I have never had accidents or unpleasant things, but let’s not say it too loudly that it happens !!
Tell us something about you that you think people would be surprised about?
That even if I play the bass and therefore I have the rhythm in my blood, I absolutely don’t know how to dance !! LOL
If you had to describe your music to an alien how would you describe it?
I would explain to the alien that I listen to music of all kinds and from all over the world, so in my music he can find a pinch of who I am and what I listen to. I think an alien might find my music interesting! 🙂
What makes you stand out as an artist?
The special thing about my project is that I identify myself both as a bassist, but also as a songwriter. From time to time I choose who to make my songs sing. There is no predefined genre, but the message I want to convey goes through different genres. Not having a genre and not singing in the first person, maybe it sets me apart from the others.
Right now, what’s pissing you off the most?
Lack of professionalism, being approximate, not being focused on one’s goals. I think each of us must have a plan A and a plan B. I have decided to record my music under the name “Weiners” and my project just has to go on.
What’s your favourite song to play live and why?
I’m honest, I don’t have a favorite song to play live. What makes the difference is first of all the atmosphere that is created with the audience and with the band. If you can create a symbiosis between the music played, the audience and the band, it’s all beautiful to play.
I hear you have a new single, what can you tell us about it?
My first single will be released on June 3rd. It is called “Parthenope” and it speaks of the city of Naples and of the fact that in the summer many Neapolitan emigrants return to the city, to their families, friends and listen again to the song of the sea and the smell of coffee.
What was the recording process like?
On this I can tell you my unique story, that is, the whole song was conceived near Milan, talks about Naples and was produced on the island of Mauritius. I found a very good producer (ILA_RIO) who perfectly understood what I had in mind. Parthenope is a super catchy, upbeat song that puts you in a good mood. Once you hear it, you’ll want to hear it 100 more times!
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the single?
Identifying oneself with the public, correcting even small details, being able to understand what had to be changed and how. Today a modern musician must be able to possess different qualities in addition to writing beautiful songs
Would you change anything now its finished?
No, but maybe I expect a remixed version by some DJs in the world!
What are your plans for the year ahead?
Definitely keep releasing new songs, I have so much to tell and I really hope with my heart that people can be reflected in my music.
