Hiya folks thanks for joining us in the virtual RGM lounge today, grab a brew and take a seat.
What made you decide that music is a thing for you?
To be honest we have been involved in music all our life! I think through our upbringing really! We all have musical families.
Introduce us to you and your musical history.
We are Nathan (Vocals), Danny (Guitar), Josh (Bass), and Tom (Drums).
Nathan and Danny started the band after being in a previous band. We met and music college and believed we worked well together
Name me your 3 favorite Albums.
Ooo, I will give you one of each ( Nathan) – Relationship of Command (At The Drive In), Ok Computer (Radiohead) and screw it Blood & Chemistry (Arcane Roots)
What was the first song you heard that steered you into a music path?
Probably Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground by the White Stripes or anything by Muse haha
The music industry is the hardest industry in the world to progress in, How do you feel you are doing?
I do not really know. I mean we play shows and release songs. That’s we really want to do so … well I guess? Haha
I’m seeing a lot of debate about women not feeling safe at music gigs, any thoughts on what we need to do to help?
I think it’s pretty obvious to say that everyone should feel safe everywhere. If somebody makes a woman feel unsafe at a gig then that person should be punished in one way or another.
As you develop as an artist and develop using socials what ways do you get new ears on your music? Any tips?
It’s super difficult as everyone is doing everything they can to get noticed. In our opinion, you can only be you authentically. Whether that means constantly on socials or not at all, whichever it is, it has to be you and your personality completely.
Tell us Two truths and a lie about you.
One of the members owns a pug, one owns a cat and one owns a bunch of ferrets.
What’s your thought on Spotify’s monopoly on the music industry?
We are currently in the metaphorical “Wild West” of media. Whether that be movies, TV, or music. I believe everything is so up in there at the moment but all monopolies need to be dismantled in some way as they have a stranglehold on artists, labels, and much more. There is competition within streaming.
Do you sign up for any conspiracy theories?
Yes, we are all flat eathers haha! Only joking. I do not think so. Unless the rest of the band is not telling me something.
Did you buy anything you don’t need during the pandemic?
A PlayStation … I do not play it all
What was the worst experience on stage?
Oh god so many to think of … One time the button popped on skinny jeans and launched into the audience … that was pretty bad
Tell us something about you / each member that you think people would be surprised about.
I think our music taste would surprise people. Obviously, we are in a rock band but most don’t even listen to rock anymore haha
What makes you stand out as a band/artist?
I believe our mixing of genres and energy makes us stand out live and on record.
I hear you have a new music, what can you tell us about it.
We have a new EP out now called Broken Man. It’s a collection of tracks recorded a few years ago mixing bands such as Arcane Roots, Black Peaks, Dillinger Escape Plan, Marmozet, and much more. We think it’s okay haha
Talk me through the thought process of the new tune/s
It was all written by me and Danny our guitar player. We were just so sick of not playing music so we wanted to write an EP that portrayed that frustration.
What was the recording process like?
It was great! We recorded it West Homesick and our producer was great at getting the best out of us and the tracks.
What was the biggest learning curve in writing the new tunes?
Actually being able to play them haha
Would you change anything now it’s finished?
We would definitely add more electric elements
Is there anything else you would like to share with the world?
Go listen to Rothschild
